The Victoria, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, etc. series have a lot of players on Atlas if IRC is any discussion. Discuss the games here, including mods like Kaiserreich or the Vicky 2 Modern Day Mod.

I was reading about Hearts of Iron IV today, and I realized that I have been playing EUIII for seven years now. In fact, it is the only game I still really play. The only game I am interested in getting is Victoria II, and I will only get it if I can be able to transport an EUIII game starting in 1399 into Victoria II.

Just finished playing as the Byzantines in CK2. Restored the Roman Empire, title and all, unified the Christian Schism, and managed to use my troops to establish Christian Kingdoms (for my landless cousins) in Ruthenia, Russia, Finland, Norway, Poland, and Lithuania. I decided to give them independence to see how they ruled, and 100 or so years on they're all still held by my family with the exception of Volga Bulgaria.

In EU4 I've just started a campaign as France and am debating whether or not to convert to Protestantism or not. I'd really like to grab some colonies (which Catholic nations are better for), but I really don't want to have to worry about having my realm split by religious wars.

So that's what, a single half-complete playthrough? Tongue

I absolutely loved HoI2 but 3 was way too insane with the micromanagement for me to ever enjoy

I have become rather addicted to Crusader Kings 2 and Hearts of Iron 2 (Darkest Hour version), but for some reason I failed to get too interested in EUIII beyond a very long game with Hesse trying to unify Germany (I stopped playing in 1720, I believe).

When it comes to mods my favourite ones are the ASOIAF one for CK2 (god knows how many times I have played Robert's Rebellion or the Dance of the Dragons from different points of view) and Kaiserreich. Kaiserreich might not be plausible enough to qualify as true alternative history, but unlike Darkest Hour it provides you with so many outcomes and different games that you can always find it interesting. And indeed, yesterday I finally managed to return Edward VIII and the exiles to the United Kingdom, crushing the syndicalists once and for all..
