I don't know. I feel like the child should have SOME right to the information somehow. Surely there is a way to protect the privacy and eventually give those children some kind of closure should they desire it.

I guess I must have used the wrong words, but I do not want any further protection of privacy for the mother, that is given in the original bill, but rather I want an option for mothers that shame themselves for giving up their children to do so anonymously, so to ensure that they do not leave it in a street or somewhere...

Of course I would want to know who my mother was. I guess what might be possible is that the mothers can later, when they found the courage to acknowledge what they have done (this must be incredibly hard for mothers that want to give up their children, I guess we can all agree on that) and do not shame themselves to confess this, they can come back to the hospital with the baby hatch where they left the child, and maybe leave something for the child that they can get in contact with the mother? I don't know...

The amendment has been adopted.

What's next on this?

We should hold a final vote soon assuming that nobody else will be offering amendments to this.

You know, I plan to, but I need time for that... Is it a problem if I'll offer the amendment tomorrow morning?

Establishing baby hatches and increasing the fine. You ok with this?

Lumine, is Senator Cranberry's amendment friendly or hostile?

I would say it's friendly.

You see, I am very concerned about the privacy issue since I don't think the child should be denied the right to know where he comes from, but the baby hatches could be a good addition in the sense that they would most likely save lives (which is one if not the main purpose of this). And I also agree with the increase in the fine, I was just giving a tentative number in the earlier amendment.

Great thanks.
As much as I would want to know who my mother was if I was "left out" that way, the anonymity may help to give new mothers the courage they need to set it out. And we don't know how many children still are left somewhere in a backyard or a street...

Hopefully the amendment is friendly as it's one I'd definitely support.

Of course, Bore's amendment really does solve most of my earlier concerns. Entrusting the regional goverments with the info is a reasonable step, and allowing the info to be released if the mother dies would be perfect to me. Friendly!

The previous amendment has been adopted. Senators have 24 hours to object to bore's proposed amendment.

I think I am pretty much ready with this one, so I would like to call for a final vote if nobody else has any proposals until, say, tomorrow.

X DemPGH, President

I had actually had some concerns about this, but I think with the input of folks like Cranberry, this turned into something not only quite workable, but quite humane. I was initially very skeptical about turning hospitals into daycare and also the privacy issue. Both of those concerns are largely put to rest. That the mother can reclaim the baby is great, too. In all, I can't really complain about anything here.
