Cali, obviously. Republicans still control the State Senate in NY (granted, with significant help from renegade Democrats) whereas Repubs are in 2/3 superminorities in both chambers in CA.

True, but a socially moderate GOP that competes heavily for the Hispanic vote would at least probably make CA competitive ... I can't see NY being close anytime remotely soon.

On the presidential level it seems to be New York as the Democratic candidate has always gotten a higher percentage there than in California for a long time. The last Democratic presidential candidate who fared better in the Golden State than in the Empire State was ... lol ... you won't believe me. Cheesy

On the state level, however, the Republicans still have quite a big say in New York.

Did I say it was going to anytime soon?  It's more likely than Republicans winning NY, which was the question...

Because McGovern performed better in the new england/new york area as a whole (ME, NH, VT, MA, CT, RI, NY) than he did in the west coast as a whole (CA, OR, WA)

I don't see either state voting Republican at all in the foreseeable future.

NY has a republican Governor and they control the Senate. So, California.

Since when is Gov. Cuomo a republican? (The last time the GOP got the majority of the vote in an NY gubernatorial election was in 1998, although Pataki did manage to get reelected in 2002 due to split opposition.)

I think Niemeyerite was making fun of the fact that some people on the forum don't support Andrew Cuomo because he isn't liberal enough for them.
