Yes. Just as I miss his insight on Thailand. He was the main guy from both locales.

No. Honestly I wish we had less "insight", and instead could let the dead RIP and wait for a formal investigation to determine if the officer in question should be charged with a crime and if so, wait again for a jury to decide to convict him or not.

I'm pretty sure you could parrot him if you want, it wouldn't be hard as the guy only had 2 different things to say on any subject.

Yes. It would certainly be better than certain "libertarians" accusing the murder victim of being on PCP with no evidence.

No, not at all.

Yes. It would certainly be better than certain "libertarians" accusing the murder victim of being on PCP with no evidence.

Who? The "libertarians" on Breitbart or WND?

It would have been vaguely like this:

"Something something something a black.  Something something something Bad Place."

Nah dude, opebo was a very astute poster when it came to race relations in this country. His analysis of the first Obama-Romney debate is still one of the best posts ever made on this forum.

opebo could be funny at times.

but i always thought of him as one of the more racist posters.  maybe racist is too strong of a word, but you get my point.

It certainly would've been more fun to read than anything going on in that thread right now.

While I agree with you regarding opebo and his one-note "insight"... good God, do you really so blindly trust the authorities here so much that you'd take a "formal investigation" (ran by many of the same people that got Ferguson into this mess) to produce any sort of transparency or justice?  Especially without the klieg lights of outrage and scrutiny that you seem to be scorning?

Anyone still in touch with Our Dear Opie?  Certainly the Atlas Forum is not the lone way for man to express opinion.

I'm sorry, but being serious here... but Opie seriously freaked me out, especially with his "underage girls" views. I am glad he is gone.

A formal investigate should be conducted, thought certainly not by anyone from Ferguson. This sort of situation is far too emotionally charged to expect anyone remotely connected to treat it fairly.

As for the trust in authority, do I trust the government? Not really. But I do trust it more than I trust the band of internet outragemongers who want to be the judge, the jury, and the executioner all in one fell swoop, hang him now and ask questions later, or the analogous rightwingers who'd reflexively give the cop a medal because they saw some picture of Michael Brown making gang sign hand gestures. The latter may not exist on the Atlas Forum but they are out there too.

In any case, I wasn't there. I don't know what happened in Michael Brown's death and neither do the other people all over the internet endlessly typing about it. We may never really know. Now maybe opebo was there and witnessed the whole thing and the Atlas Forum would be the lone source of news to disseminate the truth if he were able to post. But I doubt it. As for the rest of the "insights" they tend to almost exclusively be op-eds from folks who want to chime in show how this story simply confirms whatever their opinion about crime and racism is no matter what actually happened. Maybe their larger narrative is even right. But people don't fit neatly into boxes that way and neither do individual crime cases. This story has become emotionally charged for far too many people for "insights" to actually be objective for the most part. Anyway that's kind of rambling but I think you get the idea.

Considering that opebo's situation parallels Brown's very well, I would love to have his insight.

Yes. I would've strongly disagreed with it, of course, but the forum is missing that voice. He would've been fantastic in DC's sexual morality thread as well.
