That senate seat would surely mean much to her as it used to be her husband's and as it is currently taken by a Republican.

Michelle Obama doesn't care about the seat, and she doesn't need to run in order for it to go Democrat again.

I don't think she'll run for the U.S. Senate in 2016.

Option 4, but if she did run, she'd win easily

No she won't. No one knows how she stands on any issue, she has been apolitical throughout her entire life, and most likely doesn't even want to become a senator. Besides, there is a large Democratic bench in Illinois, meaning Democrats have better options for senate nominee. Michelle Obama being elected to the senate is just another far-left/feminist wet dream which shouldn't be taken seriously.

Sorry for the rant.

Hm, I'd really like to see her run. Has she ever spoken on a potential candidacy?

Not sure what's particularly feminist about the idea of someone primarily known for being somebody's wife running for Senate

Tell that to the Hillary Clinton supporters on this site.

She will run only if Dems fail to recruit Robin Kelly, Duckworth or Madigan.

But all of them can win.

She'll be Mayor of Chicago if she runs for anything.

More likely I see them both retiring to Hawaii after Sasha graduates high school in 2019.

Why would she run against Rahm Emanuel? Rahm was Obama's Chief of Staff and nationally, he's on very good terms with the Democratic Party. I mean she could run on Rahm's horrible education cuts, but on the plus side, he's drastically reducing homicide rates as Mayor with the help of his gun legislation which Michelle Obama supports.

She certainly won't run for Senate, either. The Obama's will be done with Washington after 2017, at least for the time being. Besides, Kirk is by far one of the best Senate Republicans right now and he works great across the aisle. It would be a benefit to have a D+1 sure, but the IL Dems have other candidates waiting in the wing. Michelle would be a strong candidate if she does run down the road. Make it worth while and knock out a Senator who can be defeated and who deserves to be defeated.

Michelle Obama hasn't shown any political aspirations of her own.
