I swear, some of you guys have the exact same mentality as the tea-party (although thankfully, far less influence in your respective party).  It's like any compromise is some unforgivable act of treason for you people.  If a man who managed to get elected to the Senate running as a self-described Socialist isn't good enough for you, I'm pretty sure nothing will be.  Bernie Sanders is the best that True Leftists are going to get.  I am not calling Sanders a True Leftist, he seems more reasonable than that and, unlike most True Leftists, isn't an armchair activist.  

Just to be clear, when I say True Leftist, I don't mean progressives, folks like myself who aren't members of the "Hacks for Hillary" brigade, or even necessarily socialists.  I mean people who do things like vote third-party to protest Grimes being "too conservative" even though she's running against Mitch McConnell in flipping Kentucky and then try to act like they're somehow striking a blow for the working man.  

Similarly, when I say armchair activists, I mean people who are always going off about this or that True Left cause of the week.  They'll go on and on about how horrible _____ is and how people need to rise up against the capitalist/corporatist/Republican/DEA/military/right-wing media/whatever machine (usually through internet rants) and then never seem to get around to actually trying to do anything constructive about it.  In my personal experience, most True Leftist fall into this category.  They complain, and complain, and complain, but they never do anything.  They don't try to unionize local workers, phone-bank, go canvassing, give money (unless a small donation will let them be part of the latest fad in TL circles), work to organize their community, write letters to the local newspaper, call their elected officials, etc.  For whatever reason, most (though admittedly not all) True Leftists I've come across seem to fall into that category from what I can tell through my interactions with them.  Whatever else they may be, there is no denying that the tea-party crowd (and really True Republicans in general) is active and motivated overall in a way True Leftists simply aren't.

Yeah, Bernie's remarks, from what I heard, actually seemed fairly measured and reasonable. But he didn't tow the True Leftist line of Israel = Satan and Hamas = Freedom Fighters, so he got screamed at.

he believes Israel should be allowed to use US aid dollars to oil its killing machine whilst Gaza should not be allowed use int'l aid on throwing together its own comparatively ragtag killing machine.  implication: Israelis are allowed to use violence/"have an army", Gazans are not.  imperial mentality 101.
