Well, I don't know. Personally I don't think people should be allowed to wear well-defined symbols of hate and stupidity (Eg swastikas) to schools..

However, who decides what is hateful - for example some people think that the confederate flag stands for racism, some think it stands for southern heritage & pride....

I for one wouldn't want my kid wearing either.....

If someone wants to display their southern pride, let them fly the stars and bars like States does. They don't have to act like the Klan.

IMHO, they're all fine.  Maybe not agreeable, but there's no reason why someone shouldn't be allowed to wear them, other than perhaps for inciting trouble.

What if someone wants to display their Soviet pride with communist symbols? That's just hypocritical.

That's why we should have uniforms obviously.  No statements, just have the kids learn.

As far as I'm concerned you can wear whatever you want.
But Most of those shirts should come with a warning:
"Caution Wearing this shirt may result in you getting your ass kicked."

Most people who use Swastikas the world over use them as religious symbols. Most people the world over who use Swastikas are Hindus.
Just a thought.

The constitution doesn't apply to those under 18.

Just a thought.

Actually, doesn't the symbol go in the other direction (e.g., like a swastika but reversed) for the non-Nazi portrayal? And some Native Americans here also use that symbol - it appears in courtrooms and the like. There was even a NM National Guard outfit, the 45th Infantry Division, that used it as part of their shoulder patch. They had to change to something else in 1941...

Read it again. The constitution doesnt apply to those who are under 18. Only the basic "life & liberty" rules apply.

Hindus use both. The Nazi direction is more common, however.

A school student should be able to wear any of them. They all portray messages, albeit in many cases a puerile desire to incite, but ultimately, the burden must rest on the minds of those offended, not those who choose to speak theirs.

No, obviously you forgot your meds today.  When you return to reality, come post again.

Uniforms are critical so you don't have fools wear a god hates fags shirt to school and get into a fight over it.  School is for learning, not making a statement or insulting people.  You obviously were severly beaten as a child and instead of except that, you've transferred the blame onto your school administration in a weird attempt to deny the abuse. Go get help for yourself.

Which is not that school uniforms are banned.

Uh, in public schools, the First Amendment prohibits the mandatory wearing of uniforms.

Hopefully when Blau v. Fort Thomas goes to the Supreme Court, this will be settled.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

First, no article of the Bill of Rights applies to the states, and this one specifically limits only Congress.

Second, you obviously have no idea what the history behind this amendment is if you think it would ban uniforms even if it did apply to the states.

Except that I'm correct. The Supreme Court never applied the Bill of Rights to the states until the early 20th century. Well over 40 years after the fourteenth amendment was adopted, the court ruled that "due process" incorporated the other articles, which is an absolute joke that would render the first amendment meaningless.

Bandit, some punk with a swastika on his t-shirt is not expressing free speech.  He's being a jackass and disrupting the education process. You know, that thing that school's for.
