I can see the appeal of wanting a protective force that better serves and reflects the interest of the local (minority) community than the standard police force, but how does this work?  What happens if there is an actual conflict?  Are people really going to feel safer and freer seeing these people carrying their guns around?  I don't think I normally would, but then I'm in a very different situation then most of the people there.   
At least they are supporting local businesses.  That's always good to see when we've seen so many minority-business-destroying looters posing as protestors.
