Misleading, elements of the anti-Assad forces have been killing Christians, Shias and beheading peope for years now. Al Nusra and ISIS were also attacking the Kurds.

Excellent point. We let Assad slaughter the democratic opposition for years when we could have allowed them to prevail fairly easily against both Islamists and Assad. The West's cowardice had terrible consequences.

Don't want to sound like a dick, but "a bunch of people" are being killed now (possibly) because of that inaction. Though Western intervention sucks, and I'm on the fence about it (as I was about Libya); I'm pretty sure the West are slightly more discerning than ISIS in terms of civilians vs. military.

Please, explain how we could have "easily" ensured that moderate elements prevailed, driven out the large, well-supplied (partially by us) extremist groups, and established a stable government in the resulting vacuum. Please justify your claims with actual evidence rather than just optimistic speculation. You can't just make wild statements like that and expect people to take you at face value.
