Bouncing off Starwatcher's idea , what if other countries became states? Which color "state" would they be? Fun thing to think about.

Don't most polls indicate that Western nations would vote 75%+ Dem?

Really, why would the most atheistic country in the West vote for the Faith-Family-Freedom party?

India is very socialist, I don't see them voting Republican.

Seriously, there are very few countries that would vote for the Republicans. In most countries, they would be a fringe far-right party. Like the FN in France or whatever.

UK might just have picked Nixon over Kennedy, might have went for Ford and probably would have went for Bush 1. After that however it would become an increasingly safer Democratic state.

This assumes that if the rest of the world could vote in US elections that either the two major parties had not shifted ideologically to interact with this highly different electorate, and also that the other countries in question had not evolved political preferences that were similar to those of the United States.

Poland seems like it would be receptive to the Republicans, if the current composition of the Sejm is any indication.

I expect the GOP would have relatively little "strongholds" compared to the Democrats. My first impressions Republican potential heartlands include: Alberta - with the potential to swing other prairie states; West Australia and Queensland; conservative Asian societies like Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Indian BJP strongholds; Poland, Hungary and various other anti-communist East Europe countries; Ireland fifteen years ago; Bavaria; Alpine Europe; and Chile.

Of course, the premise is ridiculous; but an interesting thought excercise nonetheless.

Seriously, there are very few countries that would vote for the Republicans. In most countries, they would be a fringe far-right party. Like the FN in France or whatever.

The Republicans are not "far-right", in any European sense of the term.

As much as this forum would like to believe, the republican party is not a far-right party in any way (Assuming far-right is being used correctly).

I really don't know what countries would vote D/R. All I know is most of western and northern Europe would vote democratic.

Republicans, if they want to attract religious conservatives who aren't just Christian.

The Republican opposition to universal healthcare is a complete non starter in any other developed nation. People who have a guaranteed right to medical treatment without the risk of  complete financial ruin generally like it.

Israeli is maybe the only country that would vote Republican.

Anyone answering more than 1 or 2 has no clue what they're talking about.

I encourage the OP to post this in the international discussion section so that people with more energy than me can point out all the ways he's completely uninformed.
