Five years ago today, Teddy Kennedy passed away in Hyannis Port. I have changed my avatar for the next week in respect.

The liberal wing of the party and defenders of universal healthcare have certainly lacked a voice since he left.

He was my favorite of the Kennedy brothers, but that's not a hard contest to win.

In a way I wish he won the 1980 Democratic Nomination. Seemed like a sincere guy.

I heard about his death on the radio when I was leaving my house to start the first day of my senior year of high school.

I'd only been into politics for a year or so and I liked him a lot. It was really sad for me. RIP.

It's usuall that he was concidered a joke in the last years of his life until he died and became a hero, much like someone else who died five years ago.

The question mark wasn't an inquiry into who was being discussed (which was obvious), but rather the nonsense nature of the post, as well as the relative incoherence.

Not big on disrespecting the dead in death threads, but it is 10 years later so those complaining about the disrespect are really just complaining that someone dare say something bad about King Reagan the Great.

Yay.  10 years without that waste of oxygen.

Well, let the tributes to the great Senator Kennedy pour in! Not only was a he world-class Senator, but an excellent swimmer as well Wink.

Although universal care is still controversal, he brought the Bork nomination to its end and stood up to minimum wage.

Why would I whine? Kennedy never accomplished anything. He never was elected to the Presidency. He is mostly remembered for being JFK's brother, giving a damn good speech at the DNC, and Chappaquiddick. About where he should be.

I'm not a big Ted Kennedy fan (worst of his brothers) but this post is clearly nonsense.

Off the top of my head, Kennedy accomplished or was associated with accomplishing immigration liberalization, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and SCHIP/CHIP.

45 years ago a woman drowned at Chappaquiddick. The other big boozy, well, didn't.

You're not original, even within this thread.

Well, that's an interesting complaint given the subject at hand. The boozy in question was so unoriginal that he inherited his own brother's senate seat. He even used some of the same slogans that were used in the 1952 campaign! How about that.

"Inherited"?

'Nevermind that Ted Kennedy was democratically elected to that Senate seat in his own right.
