For example, drugs. Growing up in a post-Reagan America with things such as "Just Say No" and "D.A.R.E." and films and TV shows showing how bad drugs were and how they could only lead to trouble,
They were lying to us, and still are.  "drugs" is much too broad of a term.  "Just say no"/DARE were silly and short sighted.  Not all drugs are created equal.  It's a very dangerous message to send to our kids.  If these people say all drugs are horrible, pot is gateway drug, if you do shrooms you'll end up in a mental hospital..these things are all easily proven wrong, consistently.  They kids will assume you're lying about everything.  But heroin really is horrible for you, meth will mess your sh**t up good.  These are facts, but the kids won't believe them because you lied to them about pot and shrooms.  An HONEST anti-drug message would go sooooo much further in keeping drug use down.
