I think that George Wallace was a too extreme in the 1960's, but by the late 70's he had his act together.

50s maybe, he was alright then. When he lost the gubernatorial primary he was a good guy, after that he went down-hill, the man changed his beliefs to get elected.

Favorable. I think he was brave and is one of the last mavericks to come to politics.

Have to admit that it's kind of favourable...I like mavericks...although I compltetely disagree with his racist views and would never have voted for him.

I was glad to see that he toned down his racist views as time went on -- I respect him enough, but I still think he was despicable.

He wasn't racist in the 50s, he turned down the support of the KKK and instead was sponsored by the NAACP in his first attempt for governor in 58 I think it was, after that he realised he couldn't get elected with views like that in the South so he changed to how he was in the 60s.
