First Senatorial Debate, 20 Sept. 2006

"I think it's important to remind the people of this state that this election is about them.  The Beltway media has made this into a national race, and there will always be national implications, but the question facing Connecticut voters is which Senator will best represent Connecticut, and I believe the answer to that question is that I'm the candidate with the most commitment to the Nutmeg State.  The voters know that this election is about more than just the Iraq War - it is about promoting transparent government, fixing social security, and addressing our nation's fiscal woes.  We have so much at stake, and I hope the people will realize that I am the candidate with the most complete platform for the state of Connecticut.  This November, I ask the voters for their support so we can have a true representative of our state's interests in the nation's capital."
-Kevin O'Connor, R

"When it comes to social security, no candidate has a more confusing record than Senator Joe Lieberman.  You have an 18-year record, Mr. Senator, on this issue, and let me say this: You've held every possible position.  In the nineties, when you associated with the DLC, you were on board with privatization.  Then, two years ago, when you ran for President of the United States, you were against it.  Then, only last year, you said private accounts were great and that they should be on the table.  With Joe Lieberman you have more Washington beating around the bush.  With Ned Lamont you have a candidate of core convictions.  You'll always know where I stand: On the side of the people of Connecticut."
-Ned Lamont, D

"If you examine my record, for the last eighteen years, I've been a true advocate for this state.  I've always held the interests of the people of Connecticut close to my heart, and as a member of the United States Senate, I've fought for our issues.  Our ideas.  In the Senate, no one has worked harder for his or her state than I have for Connecticut."
-Joe Lieberman, CFL

"Connecticut ranks 49th in the nation for federal money.  Not first or second or third, not even fortieth - we rank second-to-last.  How can Joe Lieberman say that he is adequately addressing our concerns when he is unable to get any federal support for our state while our roads crumble and our schools suffer?  How can Joe Lieberman pretend he is the best representative of our people when he is incapable of securing federal dollars for our projects?  Senator Lieberman says his experience is a plus to his campaign, but it hasn't reaped any benefits for this state."
-Ned Lamont, D

"Ned raises a good point about where our state is in terms of federal dollars, but not all of the blame can be dumped on Joe Lieberman.  Senator Dodd shares an equal portion of the blame, and Senator Dodd has supported Ned Lamont.  Neither Joe Lieberman or Ned Lamont will offer you the kind of representation you need in the Senate.  Both of them offer more of the same.  In this election, I'm offering you a real representative who will go to Washington to fight not for special interests, but for the people of Connecticut."
-Kevin O'Connor, R

First Gubernatorial Debate, 4 Oct. 2006

"It was just 2 1/2 years ago that I ascended into the role as Governor of Connecticut.  Since then, I've been proud of my record as your governor.  Under my leadership, Republicans and Democrats came together to pass ethics reform and clean up state government, and we came together again to save the Groton Naval Base.  The last two and a half years have seen job growth and political stability.  I've been working hard to build a better future for all of Connecticut's residents, and if you asked me to name a failure we've made in the last - last 2 1/2 years, I couldn't.  We've been very successful."
-Jodi Rell, R

"The governor, with the auto tax, is mimicking what George Bush does: Give tax cuts to the wealthiest at the expense of middle-income families.  As your governor, I'm going to take the side of middle class residents who are struggling to make ends meets.  This race is about which candidate will best serve you - the hardworking taxpayer - and I can say, honestly, that Governor Rell is not concerned with your interests."
-Dannel Malloy, D

"Making changes hasn't been easy.  You'll recall that when I tried to cut the utility taxes 25 percent, the Democrats opposed me.  We need two parties to work together in order to adequately serve Connecticut, and I can say honestly that on most issues, I've been able to bring two parties togethers.  However, when I've been opposed, the middle class families of Connecticut have suffered."
-Jodi Rell, R

"The governor likes to talk about how hard she works for the middle class, but she doesn't mention the 77,000 uninsured children in our state.  The governor doesn't mention that property taxes and electric rates are soaring.  Governor Rell has said she's made no mistakes - that she couldn't name a failure.  What about the fact that Connecticut is 45th in job growth?  For the last 12 years, Republicans in Hartford have been shading the truth and fixing the numbers, but I know that this November the voters will see that there's one candidate with their interests at heart: Dan Malloy."
-Dannel Malloy, D

Second Senatorial Debate, 18 Oct. 2006

"One of the major problems in Washington is too much partisanship. The best way to fix Washington is to elect people who will stand up & do what's right regardless of the political consequences. Someone who will work across party lines to get things done for the people they serve. That's what I've done for 18 years. Negativity and partisan game-playing couldn't have accomplished anything."
-Joe Lieberman, CFL

"I don't think it's bipartisan to rubber-stamp George Bush's rush to war in Iraq. That's a time we needed checks and balances, and tough questions asked. Every time someone says it's time for a change, Sen. Lieberman suggests they're too partisan, or too negative. We got ourselves into this mess not because we asked too many questions, but because we asked too few."
-Ned Lamont, D

"We need a Senator who is results-oriented.  If President Bush wants to continue the war, he needs to show us where we're making progress.  I think the reality is, for better or worse, we cannot just cut and run.  We need to seriously look at when we can leave, and when we can leave safely.  Mr. Lamont's idea is just post our timetable on the internet, let the enemy see it, and let Iraq fall again.  Such a plan is idiotic.  We need a Senator who is going to make sure that the war is completed in a timely and successful manner."
-Kevin O'Connor, R

With Malloy electorally crushed and Lamont in the Senate seat, does Murphy go for Governor in 2010?

Is there not a whole lot of interest in this?  If not, I would rather invest myself in a different timeline.

It's interesting, not a "edge of your seat, riveting, high drama TL" but it's interesting.

I'll keep doing some updates then, but I'll make it a side project along with a more interesting, nationwide timeline.
