(Edit: This thread began as trollbait on USGD, but I thought some of the responses that ignored the 'point' the troll was making were worth keeping as an FC thread. - TF)

Ideally, that'd be enough money to pay for all four years of college, but three years is probably more realistic.

If I'm going to be materialistic, I'd probably buy every vinyl record in my wishlist, then I'd buy a new guitar + amp and some recording equipment/software. After that I'd probably just buy lots of shoes, clothes and then a car with what's left over.

Ugh, why am I using green text?  I feel despicable now.

In case I had an additional few millions in my bank account:

I'd commission an in-depth 50-state + DC poll from SurveyUSA in the final days before the election, with questions about Gov./Sen./House/2016 stuff/initiatives/important issues etc.

In case I only had the 42.000$ to spend: Spend it on something useful, like a new car or for apartment related stuff. Or save it.

If I were to receive a 42 large windfall, well, almost half of it would go away in taxes, so that sucks.  I'd use the rest to pay off the wife's car and get me a decent used Miata.  If I actually got all of it, I'd do the above and throw the rest at the mortgage.

I don't have much in college loans, only about $20K, so I'd pay off that. I'd probably put the rest towards a car.

I don't think we should allow mods to create nonsensical threads on line-item veto.

I lovingly crafted two posts that were completely deleted from this thread by the guy who moved it to this forum that he isn't even a moderated of. What kind of bs is that? Makes me want to not even bother.

They were deleted because they responded directly to the troll whose posts were infracted and deleted and your posts as a result were not salvageable.  On the other hand, the posts that ignored the troll's post and only replied to the question in the title he gave his thread were interesting enough that rather than nuke the whole thread, I saved them and moved the resulting abbreviated topic to FC.

I must be missing the "interesting responses" here that needed to be preserved over the others.

Lief empty quote of Kushahontas' response to an OP we can no longer read was pure gold.

I didn't say they were highly interesting.  But they could be salvaged from a thread that otherwise was to be wholly nuked.

I'd put it in my savings account (assuming it was $42,000 after taxes, otherwise I'd obviously pay the taxes on it first).

I'd invest it and try and get five million so I can buy the original "Like A Rolling Stone" lyrics Tongue.

Pay for food and clothing and stuff like that, and then maybe patronize the arts if I have some left over.

Debt.

Right now if I end up getting a teaching job in the Greater Toronto Area after school, I'll probably be living with my parents until I can get a good chunk of my student loans paid down. If I could just erase those I'd be able to start a life of my own somewhere else right away (assuming I can acquire employment).

And given some of the current "issues" I'm navigating, I have to say that I'm really counting down the days until I can live more of a free and independent life.

I'd probably save most of it or use most of it to pay off debt, perhaps spend a little bit on things.  Maybe buy a pet alligator.  Or maybe not, since it would probably cost too much to feed it for the rest of its life.
