TV Ad: Time for Change

It's the same stories every day. Another Giuliani crony. Another problem or lack of action.

I'd like to change that. When I worked in Washington, I was a problem-solver who never forgot where she came from.

At the Gates Foundation, I oversaw a multibillion dollar charity that put new roofs over the heads of students and new technology and knowledge at their fingertips. We opened a public defender office in 50 cities that were lacking, and helped cities update gravel roads that cause costly repairs for hardworking Americans.

I'm running for President for you, not for the red carpet. Not for big donors. I'm running to make sure you have a voice in Washington.

TV Ad: Choices

[Lincoln is sitting in a simple chair, speaking to the camera]

LINCOLN: We've all fought so hard in four years to keep the nation from continuing down the path of total war and paranoia. We've seen time and time again that President Giuliani didn't say a single honest word four years ago, and promise after promise is broken.

In the upcoming caucus, we have plenty of choices. But there's only one real choice: the choice to win. With my background and leadership as an executive and a U.S. Senator, I know I can steer America to without getting us lost at sea. This caucus is about who is at the wheel, and you get to show America who to pay attention to. So I'm asking you to caucus for me. I know I'll do you proud.

NARRATOR: For more information and to talk to your neighbors about caucusing for Blanche visit, www.caucuswithblanche.com/

Web Ad

Following the success of the Christmas lip sync video, the campaign has produced a new web ad that airs when someone in Iowa watches a video on YouTube. The ad promotes caucusing for Blanche, highlighting her support for women and her 5-point anti-poverty agenda for America. A second web ad, micro-targeted to videos watched mainly by the 18-29 crowd, focuses on Blanche's support for college students (student loan reform, tuition reform, more Pell Grants) and universal healthcare. All videos include a link to www.caucuswithblanche.com/

Round 10: January 2-3, 2008
Down to the wire before the Iowa Caucuses and the candidates are canvassing the state and making the final visits to all ninety-nine counties. The latest poll from the Des Moines Register show Howard Dean maintaining his narrow lead. Evan Bayh is coming in second with Hillary Clinton making a strong push for third, breaking nearly 20 percent in the poll. Lincoln comes up in a close fourth, but has been laying a strong ground game in Iowa and is expected by many to possibly be the surprise candidate.

Iowa Caucuses Democratic Preference Poll
Howard Dean: 23.7%
Evan Bayh: 21.8%
Hillary Clinton: 19.7%
Blanche Lincoln: 19.1%
John Kerry: 11.0%
Undecided: 4.7%

On the Republican side, barring a truly late surge by Governor Sanford, President Giuliani is fully expected to cruise to an easy and significant victory of his Republican challenger. The President and his team are confident with the polls numbers; even touting their internals which show Giuliani up by nearly forty points. The latest Des Moines Register Poll puts Giuliani ahead with a healthy lead.

That has not stopped Sanford, who continues to campaign across the state, saying to his supporters: The caucus is coming, ladies and gentlemen. My only question to you is: Are you ready? It's easy to be discouraged by a couple of polls, but what I see here on the ground shows a much different picture than what the pollsters are saying. Conservatives are motivated, and we're going to show President Giuliani and his cronies that you can't ignore us for much longer! We won't just exceed talking heads' expectations--we'll win this thing!"

Iowa Caucuses: Republican Preference Poll
Rudy Giuliani: 62.9%
Mark Sanford: 33.3%
Undecided: 3.8%

This Round will close Tuesday at 11:59 pm EST...results will begin on Wednesday Morning.

Lincoln: The Fighter

Blanche Lincoln, the 2004 Democratic nominee is proving herself to be a viable candidate. No former  losing Vice Presidential candidate has gone onto win the nomination let alone the election since 1932...with that candidate being FDR. Lincoln however is picking up support and gaining ground in the crucial state of Iowa which many see as the test to determine her longevity as a candidate. She's really surprised a lot of people with her superb ground game and strong debate performance. Political experts call her the wild card for the caucuses, and believe if she doesn't win, she'll very likely be in the top three.

Iowa-The Final 48; Schedule for Bill Clinton

January 2, 2008

Interview with Jaime Gangel for Today, from Joice, Iowa

So here we are, another Clinton Presidential campaign. What has changed since Hillary's run 2004?

Well, the field is stronger, my health is better, and we're facing an incumbent that has done much to piss off his base.

Who do you think will emerge as the winner in Iowa?

As much as I'd like to say Hillary will win, she's to far back, and we'll be lucky to steal third. As for who wins, I think Senator Bayh will narrowly edge out Governor Dean, but it will be very close.

Can Senator Kerry survive a last place finish in Iowa?

While in theory he should do well in New Hampshire, he can't do that without doing well in Iowa, and 10% of the vote is not going to cut it.

Can Governor Sanford survive a loss in Iowa?

Given he's also not going to do well in New Hampshire either, I don't see Sanford surviving a defeat in the caucuses.

Howard Dean for America - January 2nd - 3rd, 2008

He's back!

"You know, last week I got knocked down, but right now we're right back up and we're going to fight for this nomination, we're gonna win this nomination, and we're gonna win the White House! I've fought long and hard to get Americans together to find a true leader, and I'm not going to let some issue with my leg get in the way of that, we gotta move forward, not back. President Giuliani has divided Americans, I want to bring Americans together by coming up with solutions that help all of us, not just the top 1%. Let's get to the ballot box and win this thing!"

January 2nd, 2008 (With Al Gore, Tom Harkin, and Barack Obama)
7:00 AM - Breakfast with staff in Page County, Iowa
8:30 AM - Meet and Greet/GOTV in Adams County, Iowa
10:00 AM - Rally/GOTV in Adair County, Iowa
11:30 AM - Lunch with Voters in Dallas County, Iowa
1:00 PM - Rally/GOTV in Polk County, Iowa
2:30 PM - Meeting with Grassroots Organizers in Marshall County, Iowa
3:30 PM - Rally/GOTV in Hardin County, Iowa
5:00 PM - Meet and Greet in Wright County, Iowa
7:30 PM - Dinner with Staff
9:00 PM - Press Appearances

"I fight for the rights of every single individual. But the individualists out there need to realize, when we do something big, we get it done because we do it together. Nobody has accomplished anything big by going it alone. Leadership is about moving a group towards success. What we've seen in the last couple of decades is leaders, trying to go it alone, trying to put up accomplishments without people behind them. I won't let that happen. I will work with people all of kinds to get things done, because it's what's required for the job. We must be open about we believe, but we also must be reasonable. Because together, not alone, we get things done. Now get out there and make your voice heard Iowa!"

January 3rd, 2008 (With Al Gore, Tom Harkin, and Bruce Braley)
7:00 AM - Breakfast Strategy Meeting
8:30 AM - 1:30 PM - Leading GOTV efforts in the western half of the state

Mark Sanford Campaign Schedule: January 2-3

January 2
-Barnstorming/GOTV in Iowa City, IA
-Barnstorming/GOTV in Sioux City, IA
-Barnstorming/GOTV in Davenport, IA
-Barnstorming/GOTV in  West Des Moines, IA
-Barnstorming/GOTV in Ames, IA

Think about this campaign the last few months, Iowa. I've been out here reaching out to you, talking one-on-one with regular voters, listening to what they have to say. I've heard a lot of folks talk about being concerned--on the economy, their kids' education, and a whole host of other issues. And I've been here talking about the issues that matter to y'all. I started my campaign because our President has failed to live up to basic Republican principles time and time again, and the voters deserve a better alternative. Tomorrow night, I want all of you to show that you're fed up with President Giuliani and that you're hungry for real conservative leadership in the White House. There's not a doubt in my mind that we'll blow away the media's expectations, but we need you to show up and vote! Make no mistake: we'll win the night!

January 3
-Barnstorming/GOTV in Waterloo, IA
-Barnstorming/GOTV in Council Bluff, IA
-Barnstorming/GOTV in Cedar Rapids, IA
-Barnstorming/GOTV in Des Moines, IA
-Election Night Rally in Des Moines, IA

TV/Radio Ad: Pork

Mark Sanford has been serious about cutting spending. As Governor, Sanford brought live pigs to the state legislature to show his opposition to pork barrel spending. Up in Washington, spending is never touched. President Giuliani has campaigned like a conservative, but when it's time to prove himself, he has only bloated government again and again. Mark Sanford will bring real conservative change with a record behind him as the most fiscally conservative governor This election, it's time to cut the pork. I'm Mark Sanford, and I approve this message.

TV/Radio Ad: Fiscal Responsibility

When he was in Congress, he was rated the most fiscally conservative member. Now he's the most fiscally conservative governor in the nation. That man is Mark Sanford, and he's running to clean up Washington. [displays picture of Rudy Giuliani and contrast with Sanford] Why vote for people who don't mean what they say? President Sanford will stop reckless government spending, slash the debt, and put the country back on a good path for our children and grandchildren. This primary season, know that you have a choice for fiscal responsibility. Vote Mark Sanford. I'm Mark Sanford, and I approve this message.

Iowa GOTV Strategy

The Sanford campaign has been blasting away at Iowa, hoping to make the best showing possible and perhaps even deliver a shocking win. Volunteers have been working hard to contact voters across the state through methods like door-to-door campaigning and phone banking. Common talking points point to Governor Sanford's solid conservative record on issues and his business experience to bolster the candidate, and President Giuliani's record in office has been used against him, highlighting his big-government tendencies along the way. Conservative voters who lean Giuliani have been particularly targeted in an effort to persuade them to switch. Rural and urban areas have both been heavily emphasized by the campaign in terms of voter turnout, and strong GOTV operations have been made across the state with enthusiasm at high levels going into caucus night.

Howard Dean for America Ad - Tom Harkin's Truth
This is an Iowa-only Ad

"Iowa State voters, it's time to decide who you think should lead the Democratic Party. A lot of good men and women stand before you asking for your votes, but I think the only question you should ask is this - do you believe they will change Washington. Will they fight the special interests, will they work to end the revolving door of lobbyists, will they stand up for the people of this nation? If your answer is no, they don't deserve your vote. My vote is for Howard Dean, because he will do everything in his power to change Washington, and is the only candidate not beholden to the special interests that control it. It's time for a change, and it's time, for Howard Dean.

I'm Howard Dean and I approve this message"

Howard Dean Ad - A Final Message
This Ad will be aired in Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada, and South Carolina

"America is facing big problems. Washington is broken, the debt is out of control, and our reputation around the world is an all time low. We can't solve these issues with the same old solutions. Hi, I'm Howard Dean, and it's time to kick things up a notch. I have a healthcare plan that will ensure every single man, woman, and child can get the healthcare they need. I will end the war in Iraq, and I will balance the budget, so that we don't pass our debt on to our children. I'm Howard Dean, I approve this message, because we need leadership, not more of the same."

GOTV/Talking Points Memo

Last December, over 100 volunteer leaders that are part of the campaign's field operation gathered for a state-wide summit in Des Moines to train on the caucusing process and learn how they fit into the campaign's strategy to win. Volunteers heard from Senator Lincoln directly, role-played a live caucus simulation, and learned the recruitment tools necessary to getting our supporters to the caucus. Since then the campaign has seen a marked rise of canvass shifts, this weekend before the caucus hitting 101.6% of the shift recruitment goal determined based on how many voter contacts need to be made to win.

The campaign has taken advantage of new grassroots technology in its ground game as well. When a volunteer arrives at the canvass launch, they will enter their address into a computer and a customized packet of doors to knock will be printed so that they can knock doors in the neighborhood they live in. While most canvassers see an average of 20% conversation rate, this strategy has had volunteers hitting an average 39% conversation rate. More people recognize their neighbor and have been opening their doors to talk about caucusing for Blanche.

The campaign's digital arm is pushing hard the two web ads, and releasing shorter clips. They have also utilized animated gifs, Twitter, and a Facebook fan page.

Senator Lincoln has spent the last two days exclusively speaking at GOTV canvass launches; increasing volunteer turnout and allowing the campaign to reach more voters.

Senator Lincoln has experience as the executive of a high-profile charity foundation that put computers in classrooms and vaccines in poor neighborhoods, as well as a proven record of fighting for her principles and finding common ground to pass legislation meant to benefit the people she represented as a U.S. Senator.

Senator Lincoln's 5-point plan to tackle the issues of poverty is the kind of forward-looking progressive ideas that she will bring to the table.

Blanche has worked tirelessly to create safeguards and greater accountability when working mothers are discriminated against in the work place. Specifically she has addressed the issue of mothers losing advancement opportunities more often than fathers, as well as equal pay legislation and preserving the constitutional protections of women's reproductive rights.

Last year, Blanche had the courage to make public her support for equal marriage, stating "it doesn't interfere with my relationship with The Lord one bit." Meanwhile, other candidates in the field have been less kind to this community.

While some candidates are focused on showmanship and a media blitz designed as a massive job interview, Blanche has spent the last two days of this primary going into the communities of the people of Iowa and talking to them about the things that are important.

Round 11: January 3, 2008
The Iowa Caucuses

√ Rudy Giuliani Projected to Win the Iowa Caucuses

Iowa Caucuses: Republicans
√ Rudy Giuliani: 61.09% (34 Delegates)
Mark Sanford: 38.91%

"Rudy Giuliani -- wins the Iowa Caucuses as expected and predicted. All the polls showed him leading Mark Sanford and tonight he cruises to an easy win. Sanford did do better than expected, garnering almost 39 percent, but the polls predicted a comfortable Giuliani win and those numbers were on target. When the evening started it looked like maybe he might keep Giuliani under that 60 percent hurdle his campaign desperately wanted to hold - given all the polls have showed the President winning this in a walk. Well, he managed expectations tonight and soundly defeated his challenger by almost twenty-three points. Sanford needed a win tonight or at the very least he needed to pull the President down, that is not the case. Giuliani can check off the box tonight, he has won the Iowa Caucuses." -- Tim Russert.

"The race everyone has been watching intensely has been on the Democratic side. Howard Dean has long been the favorite for the caucuses, but lately we have seen the polls tightening, particularly with Evan Bayh who has been playing hard here in Iowa. Even a few days ago Former President Bill Clinton, who predicted that Hillary Clinton would not win Iowa cast doubts on a Dean win and tonight it looks a those the former President may have had his finger on the pulse of the state. It is too close to call." -- Tim Russert

Iowa Caucuses: Democrats (Too Close to Call)
Howard Dean: 26.2%
Evan Bayh: 24.9%
Hillary Clinton: 21.6%
Blanche Lincoln: 21.4%
John Kerry: 5.1%
Other: 0.9%

"We do project, however that John Kerry will finish fifth this evening. It is still a race for fourth place between Hillary Clinton and Senator Blanche Lincoln, but all eyes are on Howard Dean and Evan Bayh."

11:39 pm EST: √ Clinton Projected to Finish Fourth in Iowa

Dean and Bayh: Too Close to Call
Evan Bayh: 25.3%
Howard Dean: 25.2%
Blanche Lincoln: 21.9%
Hillary Clinton: 20.0%
John Kerry: 6.6%
Other: 0.9%

11:59 pm EST
Evan Bayh: 25.29%
Howard Dean: 25.28%
Blanche Lincoln: 21.74%
Hillary Clinton: 20.19%
John Kerry: 6.54%
Other: 0.90%

12:04 AM EST
Howard Dean 25.29%
Evan Bayh: 25.28%
Blanche Lincoln: 21.74%
Hillary Clinton: 20.19%
John Kerry: 6.54%
Other: 0.90%

12:51 AM EST PROJECTION: IT'S A DRAW! Howard Dean DECLARED WINNER IN IOWA CAUCUSES.

√Howard Dean: 25.30% (14)
Evan Bayh: 25.28% (14)
Blanche Lincoln: 21.74% (10)
Hillary Clinton: 20.19% (9)
John Kerry: 6.54%
Other: 0.89%

"Howard Dean has won a narrow victory in the Iowa Caucuses, but this race has now been opened up in a new way. Howard Dean, the favorite for Iowa. Even all the polls projected a win for Dean, but no one could have expected the result we're seeing tonight. Now the Bayh campaign and some Democratic operatives will tell you, there has been this building sense of momentum for the Bayh campaign. They've been really playing hard in Iowa for the start. For them this was it. This one is for all the marbles. An adviser told me earlier today they'd bet the farm on Iowa -- well it has paid off. It's a draw, essentially and now we go onto New Hampshire where this race will likely get even more interesting. " -- Tim Russert

New Hampshire Primary Poll: Republicans
Rudy Giuliani: 66%
Mark Sanford: 34%

New Hampshire Primary Poll: Democrats
Evan Bayh: 23%
Howard Dean: 22%
Hillary Clinton: 20%
Blanche Lincoln: 16%
John Kerry: 14%

January 4-6, 2008 begins today and will close on Sunday at 11:59 pm EST.
A debate between the candidate will take place in Concord, NH and questions will be posted later today.
