Disagree/non-critical. What is this question even supposed to be asking? That equality is some kind of hindrance on society? That's the way I've always read it.

I believe its addressing things like giving everyone a trophy instead of just the winners, and using affirmative action to try and level the playing field for jobs/education. Maybe it means something else, but that's the way I interpret it.

It's definitely a straw man. We need both more equality AND more real merit.

This is another one of those questions that I think is too broad; its pretty similar to the affirmative action question, IMO.

Anyway, Usually Agree/non-critical.

Disagree / Critical

The question is essentially asking whether society has become too egalitarian - if what it needs is clearer hierarchies of superior and inferior ranks so that the strong will decisively prevail over and lead the weak.
