Lets do this again but take out Islamic theocracy from communism. I would still choose the capitalist utopia, of course.

Since the world has never seen either, how can I make an informed choice?

Purely communist, and it's the furthest thing from a difficult choice.

Well given that under communism I wouldn't be a slave, I'm obviously going to choose communism.

Yeah, I can't really see the difference. The word "utopia" kind of takes the meaning out of the poll.

If it's truly a utopia, does its type matter?

Neither. And I say that with full confidence. It goes beyond the typical political paradigms we know.

How does a capitalist utopia look like?

My best guess in response would be an anarcho-capitalist order in which there is such an abundance of goods and services that poverty is not life-endangering and prevailing customs harbour no tolerance for those who manipulate and coerce others with underhanded business practices. Guidelines for conduct in communities are laid out via direct democracy and they coordinate their policies within the framework of a loose confederation. People are sufficiently charitable that research projects get investment and those who lose everything get another chance. Nepotism is generally frowned upon. Security firms, finally, have integrity - invariably showing more commitment to preserving the autonomy of all than acting like mercs.

Nevertheless, Purely Communist (I/O) is my vote.

How would a purely communist utopia be like? Star Trek? I'd imagine a purely capitalist one would be one where there are no poor people to be poor.

If you search communist utopia you will find a lot of different ideas of how it could look like.

There is no poverty either in a communist utopia because the society produces much more than it needs so everyone is just free to pick up what he needs to live.
