But there are still some technical problems:

The last PPP poll showed the following:

Sean Parnell ................................................... 37%
Byron Mallott................................................... 22%
Bill Walker....................................................... 20%
-> 42%
Carolyn Clift .................................................... 3%
J.R. Myers....................................................... 2%
Not sure .......................................................... 16%

Which means it would not be a bad idea ...

If there is a Dem/not a Republican hold in Alaska, I'll be ecstatic.

In an internal poll for Walker it shows him at 43% vs Parnells 40% if the Democrat wasn't in the race. Also, when you try to access Mallotts website it takes you to the GoDaddy this URL is available page; and his FaceBook Page is no longer accessible.

The Democratic Central Committee voted 88-2 to back a Walker-Mallott ticket.  While KTUU says it's not yet official, a KTVA anchor says via Twitter that she spoke with Walker, who says it is.   The KTVA anchor, Emily Carlson, also says via Twitter that the two will appear on Walker's independent line.  The Democratic line will be blank.  I guess Alaska doesn't allow fusion voting, like New York.

Isn't Walker more conservative than Parnell? I'm not sure this is going to work.

Presumably Walker will make some concessions should he be elected. He likely wouldn't have been able to win without a sort of deal like this.

Good to see the Alaska Democratic Party wants to win.

So to be clear, there isn't going to be a Democratic candidate, and now it'll be Walker for Governor, who will stay a Independent, and Mallott for Lieutenant Governor, who will stay a Democrat, right?

This could be a way forward in red states and in general if this election creates a Republican wave that becomes entrenched in 16, 18 and 20.

It's a confusing as hell move. I don't know why Democrats are embracing this.

They are embracing this deal because it's better to have a Democrat be the Lieutenant Governor, and a conservative who has to concede to the Alaska Democrats because they got him elected.

Walker definitely isn't more conservative than Parnell. A quick browse of his website reveals that. He supports raising the minimum wage, supported Medicaid Expansion, doesn't want to repeal the ACA, and he's fairly pro-environment.

This move makes sense. And I think the ticket could win.

They made the deal official earlier today.

Interesting move, too.  I don't know how vulnerable Parnell really is, but Alaska could end up being a wildcard like Kansas that ends up diverting attention (and money) from places like Wisconsin, Florida, Michigan, etc.

It won't take much money to defend Alaska. I don't see it a being issue even if Parnell becomes more vulnerable.
