I'm not a hater, but they do do something weird to my inner ape.  Just like spiders, heights and deep water.  With thought, I can overcome any of them, but I can't deny the fear inside me.

I voted horrible because they always freak me out in the wild.  I'm not an expert so I treat all of them I encounter as venomous.

They're decent pets, though.  I lived with a snake for nearly three years.  Except for a few cage cleanings, it was a very low-maintenance pet.  Just buy him a rat once a week, change the water daily, and you're done.  Pretty boring though.  Only the feeding is interesting.  Otherwise watching a pet snake is rather like watching paint dry.  I don't think I'd get another one.

Reptiles are great. Crocodiles are the best though, let's not kid ourselves.

There has been a boom in the snake population here, owing to the massive frog/toad population boom.  I've never seen as many of either as we've had this year. And I thought they would have suffered after our 2nd coldest winter in recorded history last year. I mean...lots of trees died.  But the flowers and critters did well.

Most snakes I don't like so much; they can really hurt. Garter snakes aren't so bad, though.

"Inner Ape".....LOL. xD
