...therefore, we shouldn't expand Utah residents' access to Medicaid.

Hospitals are the deadliest places in the country! More people die in hospitals than in any other location!

AAAAAARRRRGGGHHH--THIS IS SO STUPID THAT IT HURTS.

https://www.iom.edu/~/media/Files/Report%20Files/1999/To-Err-is-Human/To%20Err%20is%20Human%201999%20%20report%20brief.pdf

IOM estimates that between 44,000 and 98,000 people die each year due to preventable medical errors.

I'm sure Dr. Kennedy has read this report.

CDC estimates that 75,000 hospital patients died due to healthcare-associated infections in 2011: http://www.cdc.gov/HAI/surveillance/index.html

That number is nowhere near the 500k-1 million people he off-handedly cites.

That reminds of this Gene Hackman quote from Unforgiven:

English Bob: Well, actually, what I heard was that you fell off your horse, drunk of course, and that you broke your bloody neck.
Little Bill Daggett: I heard that one myself, Bob. Hell, I even thought I was dead 'til I found out it was just that I was in Nebraska.

So here we have a stupid comment from a Republican. Thread has 7 (now Cool replies and no one has made any statement linking this to the Republican Party at large.

So no, the same thing does not happen when Republicans make stupid comments.

Please take a look at the thread involving comments made by Ted Cruz' dad, which has many more replies and many comments linking something that someone who isn't even an office holder or candidate said to Republicans.   Or the dozens of other threads on this website whenever a Republican says something controversial.  Don't cherry pick one post.

No he doesn't.  Ted Cruz is a grown man.  He doesn't take directions from his father any more than you do if you're an adult.

That's interesting!  I didn't know Ted Cruz only met his father for the first time as an adult.  Must've been an interesting meeting.  "Why the heck was I born in Canada, dad?  Don't you know how awkward you made things for my career?!"

There's a difference between HAS and HAD.  What Ted Cruz' dad says today is irrelevant in determining what Ted Cruz thinks today.  He has no more influence than any adult's dad.  You can't judge an adult based on what their father says.
