He is, at least, released until the hearing next week which hopefully will go well for him.

Entirely appropriate reaction; he certainly has a right to free speech and he certainly exercised his right to irresponsibly take advantage of that right.

Usually there's more to these stories than what we get in the initial reporting. If the authorities not only arrested him, but are in fact going ahead with a prosecution, then they probably have more to go on than lyrics in a facebook post.

Oddly enough, I've long thought of this song as a perfect example of what I will not discuss in mixed company. There's just too much room for people to misinterpret and come to very bad conclusions.

Also, I suspect that the lyric was misquoted. Tongue

Why there may be more to it interpreting this as a threat in itself is clearly way beyond reasonable.

Cops really should just plug questionable internet posts into Google really quick before they look like fools, like they do in this regard.

After all, no one's ever turned lyrics into a twisted take on reality.

That said, unless they found some fire to go with the smoke, I think the police overreacted.  However, with children involved they'd get a whole lot more grief if it turned out they underreacted, so I can understand why they apparently went the other direction.  At least they didn't send a SWAT team to take him down.
