She was really great as a guest star on Louie a couple years ago. I didn't like anything else she did, but that was a generational gap. She was a pioneer of comedy.

Anything can be a joke if everyone quit wallowing in their own misery and made the most of their lives. Do you, for one minute, really believe Joan Rivers wanted Palestinians to die?

She had an incredible sense of life, and lived it to the fullest. Over the last two years, I have watched huge parts of my life disintegrate. But I quit letting my depression lock me up. I began to laugh-I forced myself to socialize, something I couldn’t do no matter how hard I wanted to over the last few years. Listening to Howard Stern everyday helped. Starting to crack jokes about the worst aspects of my life helped. Yesterday, my therapist said he saw me smile for the first time since I met him nearly eight years ago. Is this a bad thing? Is Joan Rivers a horrible person for bringing a smile to my face, even in the vilest way?

Thank God for people like Joan Rivers. If the world was filled with prudes, and I don'’t mean prudes in the Atlas sense (“anyone who doesn’t like Opebo”) but rather the prudes who can’t stand seeing other people happy. I quit hating those who are happier than me, and sure enough, my life began to pick up. The SJWs be damned, Joan Rivers was funny.

Exactly. I have never seen her TV show on Fox, nor her fashion show on E. But I have seen her on Roasts, and heard on the radio, and I loved it. Funny is funny.

Why is Joan Rivers owed class?

The great irony is that Joan Rivers would be loving Snowstalker's post in particular. The detractors are giving her the tributes she would have wanted.

Joan Rivers was great.  Young white men might not understand her humor because she's from a different time, place and perspective.  Her humor came from being a Jewish woman in the 1950s, from the type of humor where you laugh because it hurts too much to cry.  It comes from realizing how absurd, capricious and evil life can be, but rising above it with a joke.  That's the great Jewish tradition of comedy and the comedy of the oppressed.  And, for what it's worth, her humor was just as often about making fun of Joan Rivers as anyone else.  It's that everyone is ridiculous and somewhat pathetic, not that she attacked people to be mean.
