The most vile people in government are invariably those who hide behind the cloak of "moderation" and "bipartisanship".

Lean HP, though like Sanchez for Nixon, I have some bizarre appreciation for Arlen Specter.

I'd have all the respect in the world for the man if he either a) stayed in his party and just voted his conscience, or b) pulled a Charlie Crist and sat as an independent until it was time to run in the Democratic Senate primary. His direct switch after years of being a Republican just didn't sit right with me.

Of course, Ben Nighthorse Campbell still gets the reward for most bizarre party switch.

FF, overall. He gave Democrats a 60-40 majority in the Senate. Without him, the ACA would likely have failed.

HP overall for switching parties (especially when you consider the reason), but FF when he was a Republican.
