Even if he was on their territory, nobody would believe that after all stuff that happened so far.

Last night I actually had a dream about limited NATO-Russia nuclear exchange.

And since my dreams generally doesn't come true, there won't be a nuclear war.

No doubt he was in Russia territory according to Putin's maps.

I don't know why, but this whole Ukraine thing (which I guess has moved on beyond Ukraine now) has made me genuinely angry in a way that I don't ever feel about foreign events... But that post is better suited to the thread about the Ukraine, and I'll put it there.

Obviously this is not good. But maybe it is, the officer being some Waffen-SS guard, or something like that.

Seriously, though, perhaps Putin thinks that since the Budapest Memorandum has been rendered worthless scrap he can now go and see if his business partner pals can make the same happen to Article 5...

Also the Estonian President has a Twitter account (certified official) on which he (personally) regularly makes rather "un-diplomatic" comments about goings-on concerning Russia's actions. I don't know how much power the Estonian President has, and I won't pretend to, but I'm inclined to say it's more a ceremonial position... but at the very least the tenor of his postings, long before this happened, would suggest that Estonia has no intention of folding. Also, said president is a bow-tie wearing Columbia grad from Bergen County. I've always liked him.

The whole official Russian explanation ("captured spying on our soil, equiped with some sort of spying manual, blah, blah") is perhaps the most transparent bull I've ever read.

I suppose that if being on Russian territory is grounds for kidnapping, the entire population of Estonia will soon be getting kidnapped.

Since the OP was a bit short here is a sum up for those of you that hasn't follwed the case:

According to the Estonian government, Russian agents crossed the border, and using smoke grenades and radio jamming devices, kidnapped an officer of the country's Internal Security Service named Eston Kohver. He appeared later that day in Moscow, where he was charged with spying and carrying an illegal handgun. Russia claims that Kohver was arrested on Russian soil, but Estonian officials claim that not only is this untrue, but that Kohver appears to have walked into a trap set up by the FSB.
