One family takes almost a third of a town's monthly expenses, town forced to raise taxes on everybody else.  "everybody else" is pissed.

That's a leach.  If "paid employment is akin to misery", how's about you don't have 7 kids.

Rare and strange circumstances such as this do not justify calls to undo the society safety net.  This woman is a leech, but if the price of a strong welfare system is a few leeches than so be it.  Nothing can be perfect, I simply advocate for policies that, IMO, do the most good on balance.

Is personal fulfillment society's job? And if you can make it without conforming, good for you, but I see no reason for the rest of a town, state, or country to subsidize that.

My opinion is not entirely guided by principle.  Much of what I believe should be public policy comes from pragmatism and attainability.  I think a guaranteed basic income, as evidenced by our welfare system that keeps many poors alive if not always well, is feasible in the United States.  And whatever "injustice" that may be attributed to subsidizing a person who refuses to work is more than eclipsed by the injustices of our addiction to free market capitalism.

Objectively yes, but far less so than the vile leeches who drain all the world.

The US is addicted to the free market like Bushie is addicted to vegetables.

You forgot to add "he likes" at the end. The "free market" doesn't exist.
