I think the best we can hope for is option 4. But I bet it'll be option 5.

I said number 2 because democracy is always fragile.  It takes work.

Option 2. A 'rough republic', but it'll survive.

Most likely are Option 2 and 5.  I voted the latter.

Hard to say, it'll be either option 2 or option 5.  It all depends on what they let their leaders do.

Option 2, most likely.  Maybe option 4 if something goes wrong. Option 3 and 5 are very unlikely and 1 is a little to far for only 2015.

Probably 2. 5 is actually very unlikely.

#1

I don't think it will struggle at all, since by 2015, most of their foreign enemies will be eliminate eiter by US action or internal revolt.  All it will have to learn to do is reconcile its internal factions, and I think it will do fine.

You forgot to include options 6, 7, and 8.

Option 6: Will be in the middle of a Civil War between the Kurds and Shiites.
Option 7: Will have finished a Civil War with the country split between the Kurds and Shiites.
Option 8. Will have been split between the Kurds and Shiites without a Civil War.

I'd like to think so too, but I've learned that it's a bad idea to underestimate human stupidity. Smiley

True, but I decided to think logically Smiley

What people forget is that the Shia coalition is literally that: a coalition of politicians that happen to be Shia's... there's actually a lot of secular politicians in it.

Hopefully, we can defeat the insurgency in that country and it will become a "thriving democracy".

Based on what we see now, Option 2 seems the most likely. Option 1 is in the realm of possibility as well.

1 or 2.

Bush has really done a great job in Iraq overall. It was never going to be easy, but he really showed those antiwar people not to be so arrogant and presumptuous.
