You may be pleased to hear that the good city of Memphis has renamed its racist city parks. Despite the protests of the KKK and various other racist "heritage" organizations, Confederate, Jefferson Davis, and Nathan Bedford Forrest Parks are no more. Forrest Avenue, which incidentally is where my father grew up, remains however.

Whoever did this most likely had no idea who Gen. Stuart was nor could tell you when or why the Civil War was fought.  The vandal's only ideology is the no-life ideology of "I'm bored, lemme go mess up somebody else's stuff."

plenty of Southern (and some non-Southern) whites hold the CSA era in high regard.  death by invasion leads to a fair bit of romanticizing on the back end, and understandably, it dies hard.

You would think the Confederacy lasted longer than 4 years (with control outside of the Deep South less the 2) the way it is depicted Southern lore. The Natives were more successful at trying to hold their territory against the Union.

the feudal Southern power structure endured quite a long time.  say from the 1600s through 1865, and from 1877-1965.  in some places, later.
