Former Chicago Bears player and coach Mike Ditka endorsed Illinois Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner in a crazy ad. Thoughts on the ad?

A lot of people were weirded out by it. I thought it was a great ad, and concluding with the shake up Springfield was effective... Crappy Dem gov with an entrenched Dem majority in the legislature gives Rauner a lot to work with.

This is the worst ad I've ever seen.

I'm not sure how having someone stare at you like they want to choke you constitutes a good ad, but okay.

Superb! But kind of depressing because it reminds me of how Ditka would have romped to victory in the 2004 Senate race, sparing this country of so much. Sad

I've seen True Leftists say they wish Keyes win in 2004 so that Obama never became president.

LOL

Polls actually showed Ditka losing to Obama, and give 'da coach' a couple of months worth of vocal gaffes and he probably wouldn't have done much better than Keyes did.

Arrrgh, love Ditka - hate that he's endorsing a Republican. Tongue That's classic Iron Mike, though. I'm from right down the road from where he's from. Still haven't had a chance to try his line of wines, though - the line is called Kick Ass or something.

Ditka is a "self-described ultra ultra conservative" and always supports Republican candidates, even saying he wishes he had run against Obama in 2004 so he never became President. It's not like this is surprising Smiley

Yeah, his work with the Gridiron Greats, though, made me think that he might be more moderate. He's criticized the NFL for not taking better care of vets. Ah, Ditka is awesome, his politics horrible, then.

Terribly cheesy add but brilliant to do one with Ditka (and it ran during the Bears game!). As a hardcore Bears fan it does pain me to see, but it isn't surprising. He's been a Republican for a long time.

This ad is hilarious. Think about the message it conveys. Bruce Rauner would be in fear of the wrath of Mike Ditka for not being "tough enough" for all of his governorship. Now that's scary.

I'll have an order of Bruce Rauner and some potato skins for the table, please.

I agree, but this endorsement will still help Rauner stay ahead
