I went with the fourth option as well, but mostly because I couldn't find the CONFUSED option.

Are we supposed to be seeing a shopping bag placed by an impatient, narcissistic, self-centered person in order to hold the elevator, perhaps at the expense of the valuable time of others?  Are we also meant to interpret the hero's comment as something along the lines of "not on my watch!"  Or is the man a macho attention whore holding the elevator open for someone (perhaps a female, as all of them are obviously too weak to push the UP button for themselves.)   Maybe it's a pop/cult reference to someone or some event that I'm meant to recognize?

Jeezus, there must be some who would be offended by this guy's callous exploitation of that abusive episode.  Still, I guess my instinct was correct:  admire the message/don't know the messenger.
