Key words here are all people. I certainly support government assisted basic needs for the severely disabled, severely injured veterans and the very poor. However, this is a very collectivist idea that massively expands the welfare state. Disagree (Critical)

I'm going to shock everybody.....
usually agree/crit

It should be embarrassing (unless you have a good excuse), it certainly shouldn't be encouraged, but it's better than the alternative.  In the future, most of us will be leaches.  That will be a wonderful day.

Not the government per se, but the whole of the people should provide basic needs for everyone. The only way that something like that is going to happen, however, is if the way that we produce and distribute goods and services are brought under the control of the public and managed in a democratic fashion.

This, though in practice I would prefer a lot of the needs be provided for indirectly by writing people checks with no strings attached. Having tons of means-tested programmes is unwieldy.

Yes, I support equal treatment of citizens under the law. This would include giving the wealthy the same basic income as everyone else. That first lump of money would be tax-exempt, with all additional earnings subject to tax regardless of a person's socioeconomic class. Likewise, any welfare benefits granted by the state would apply to everybody rather than target demographics.

No, I support eliminating the very wealthy (and the moderately wealthy, and the modestly wealthy) as a class, as well as eliminating the entire class system and the means by which a small group of parasites steal the value produced by ownership of segments of the earth and by the labor of the working class.

I don't care if you're are rich, poor, male, female, young or old - everyone deserves a place to sleep, food to eat, an education and decent healthcare at the cost of the government. These basic human rights shouldn't cost anyone anything.

Usually disagree - I see no overriding moral imperative for the government to provide everybody with their basic needs. However, if it keeps people from complaining and stops them from doing stupid sh!t then I'm cool with it. Indeed, I am actually quite drawn to the concept of 'bread and circuses'.

Something should provide basic needs for all people. At the current moment, it appears that government is the most efficient way to provide this.

There is no more effective way of destroying quality of life than creating a one-size-fits-all government bundle of goods.

Unbelievable how many people answer "agree". They do not even have the requisite intellectual faculties for casting a vote on their own behalf.

Is he? If the US were forced to distribute its wealth to poor countries, TNF would probably be crying himself to sleep at night. Blue states already piss and moan about distributing money to poorer red states, though blue states vote for the arrangement en mass during every election.

TNF is just clueless.
