Just asking this.

Personally I think that if you're a Democrat who supports Collins, you don't want Democrats to control the Senate. I really have no clue why people think like this. (I/O)

I'm not a Democrat, and so I really don't care, but I don't understand why a Democrat would not support the Democratic Party candidate if one is running.

There are definitely some exceptions to this rule (Mark Clayton in Tennessee), but on the most part, I really think Democrats should be supporting Bellows because she fits their views better, and if Democrats rally behind her, there's a chance of her winning and it makes it that much harder for the GOP to control the Senate.

They could try the Sheldon Whitehouse Method and say, "Look, we all love Susan Collins, but is keeping Susan Collins worth having a Senate controlled by Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz?"

Yeah, if I were Bellows' campaign manager, that would be the entire focal point of the campaign, running lots of ads simply asking that question over and over.

It might not be enough, but it sure would be more likely to win than focusing on the NSA or whatever Bellows is trying.

The problem is that the GOP can do the same thing. There are currently 7 Democrats in Romney states and only 1 Republican in an Obama state.

I mean, Collins would have been favored regardless of who Democrats put up against her. Its not like the seat would have been in play anyway.

I always liked Collins, and I especially don't like Bellow's views on national security.

Susan Collins sits in the same caucus as a man who more or less single-handedly orchestrated the first government shutdown in nearly a decade. Or have we forgotten about that?

Freedom fighters.
Those Democrats want to reward Collin's courage to be a moderate Republican in a tea-party dominated field. They want to reason with the GOP that right-wing extremists don't have a chance of winning in moderate States.

Neither, simply looking out for the bacon.

Is that a thing?

Courage is a funny word for that...

Useful idiots who think Collins must be a progressive just because she supports gay marriage and gun control.

She's pro-choice and pro-environment, too.  As for the OP, anyone trying to get Susan Collins back to the Senate is a FF.

Well, right after I shifted into Socialism, I still supported Chris Christie basically because I thought he was a good leader, so I was basically the only openly avowed Socialist who wanted him to be President. Thankfully I moved past it.

What does that have to do with what I said?  My point is that if states vote based on who they want to control the Senate instead of based on the candidates that Dems lose anyway.

the difference is that Republicans have absolutely no qualms tying Landrieu, Pryor, Begich, Hagan to President Obama and Harry Reid, regardless of their voting record. The least we can do is to return the favor.

That wasn't as bad as their using the debt ceiling as blackmail.
