Maybe in the 1950s. I prefer to watch YouTube videos instead if I'm bored.

I still don't really understand what being a clockwatcher entails?

I constantly check the time if that's what you mean.

Voted yes.

As in busybodies who keep an eye on their co-workers' schedules throughout the day so that they can think of themselves as Johnny Q. Goodemployee?

I try to be mindful of the time if I have somewhere to be, so I guess I am. It doesn't interfere with my job though.

yes, for sure.  I'm a huge clockwatcher.  I don't wear a watch.  Well, I have a couple of them, one for scuba diving that I always wear for vacations, and one really nice one that I wear for weddings, funerals, job interviews, etc., but I don't wear a watch otherwise.  On the other hand, I have some deeply-ingrained psychological need to always be aware of the exact time, so I look at clocks.  There's never any shortage of them.  I can see four of them from where I'm sitting in the living room just now.  From my office window, I can see the big one on the quadrangle, as well as the wallclock on my wall, the deskclock on my desk, and the one on the computer.  I have at least one in every room of the house including all three bathrooms and the basement.

Also, I don't use alarms.  Oh, once in a blue moon I'll set one, like if I have a 6:30AM flight from Harrisburg or something, but I'm a firm believer that they're unhealthy, so one of the first things I do when I wake up is look at the clock.  I keep an inordinately large number of them within eyesight of the bed so I can see the time from just about any angle.

Before now I never really thought about calling myself a clockwatcher, but now that you mention the term, I'd definitely say that I qualify.

I kind of have to watch the clock in order to do my job. Even I don't check it every 2-3 minutes though. That's crazy.

When I was younger I was an it made time go by a lot slower.

I have to say I wish I still was, because I am a little frightened by how fast my time in college has gone. I have no doubt this has contributed to it, as well as a later sleeping schedule.

It's not really something I feel as I can choose, though. I used to do it out of impulse and now I don't have that impulse to do it.

meh, not really.  I've got a very good inner clock....I can not look at the time for hours and can still guess what time it is fairly accurately.

...except when I don't.

That'd be an interesting update to this very creepy song.

Aside from the "clock watching is hereditary (according to my mother)" meme, why can't Bushie just watch the clock on his computer and not constantly look at his watch? Does he want his boss to know he's a clock watcher? Is that part of its symptoms?

Yes, very much so. I wore a watch to school from Kindergarten until early high school. I can remember having one teacher that covered up the clock in class and it seriously annoyed and aggravated me (at a time when I was no longer wearing a watch and didn't yet have a cell phone).

The only real time I avoid looking at the clock is when I have trouble sleeping at the same time that I know I have to get up a specific time. Looking at a clock when you're having trouble sleeping makes it so much worse.

I'm sat behind a computer for almost eleven hours a day, so naturally, yes.
