So he's like a comcast man? I thought you couldn't do jobs that require you to stand or walk around? How will you become a field tech man/

Passing one interview doesn't prove jacksh!t. They ask you very basic questions to weed out people who have absolutely no clue. Knowing what TCP/IP stands for does not make you qualified. I've gone through multiple interview procedures for this type of job before. The first is always a piece of cake.

As for the whole test...well I'll just say if your work on CADD and studying on that is any precedent...

The second interview will be the soft skills interview.  She gave me a list of the questions this afternoon so I could formulate my responses this evening.  These are questions I have answered numerous times for a lot of other jobs I've applied to.  I'll the decision Wednesday morning.

But, be a Debbie Downer if you wish, I will just work.

I'm not incapacitated by any means.  I still move around pretty well.

Not like that, it'll be more like the guys who come by if you ever have a computer problem at work to fix it. Actually that means the biggest problem isn't really the technical knowledge, it's that it requires decision making and critical thinking skills, of which Bushie is one of the most lacking of people on Earth.

Also it doesn't matter if you get 72% on the test. Someone else applying will get higher. This sounds like a lower level position and the type of people who could ace the whole test probably won't apply, but you won't beat the 19-year old whiz kid who gets >90% and basically does nothing but read up on IT stuff and play FPS online.

I don't understand why Bushie won't just get a retail job. It seriously can't be that hard to get hired by Target or Best Buy or whatever with the Holiday rush coming up. And he won't have to waste another $200 or his parents' money on some test that he's going to fail.

I know, but I thought the whole reason you didn't want to work at Wal Mart or anywhere besides call centers was because you weren't physically able to stand or move around for long periods of time...?

No I think he stayed home?? Mama and Papa went on the drive together and decided during the drive to un-invite him from the trip to Kansas City?? Not entirely clear.

The funny thing is, retail jobs aren't entirely useless in the experience they give you which can be used for something better. Take cell carrier stores for example. Not only do they pay $11-12/hour base pay usually, but they offer massive commission benefits. I know a guy who made over $40k last year working as a product specialist at a Verizon store, about a third of that being commission. Now imagine if Bushie had taken some low level retail job when all this CADD nonsense started and now with his experience managed to land one of those.

Then again not sure Bushie is the guy best explaining and offering recommendations on cell phones or trying to make sales...

Hooray for leaving the ridiculously stretched page behind!

Yeah, sorry about that whole thing. My brain just sort of stroked off and I couldn't stop typing. I'll happily accept whatever the hell an "infraction point" is.

---

As for the job -- I have posed a number of questions to Jeff and find it completely unnecessary to accept a position which is essentially customer service wherein he'll have to learn entirely new skills when he possesses the beginnings of CADD knowledge and enough other basic skills to land a position that won't require yet another "challenge."

If it's the type of organization that I suspect it is, they likely would hire him, because they look for bodies, not talent and capabilities. Having a pulse gets you hired ... not retained.

Yes, a long drive, where they've decided to un-invite him permanently.

RIP Bushie.

But seriousness, Bushie do you parents and family members say demeaning things about retail and blue collar workers at the dinner table or something? Why are you avoiding the possibility of working at a place that isn't an office?

Hell, I couldn't even get into the whole new skills part, the whole customer service aspect of it made me want to throw my computer across the room.

We don't talk bad about those types of jobs.  Again, if you're referring to Walmart.  You can't move forward if you haven't heard back from them.  I applied when BK told me to, but I haven't heard back.  I'm not waiting on them.

Is Oklahoma one of those states where as long as you can pass the bar exam you don't need to go to law school to become an attorney? If so I wouldn't be surprised if soon Bushie talks about becoming a lawyer and how all he has to do is apply himself, blah blah and then spend $500 on some special training class and $300 to take the actual exam. Oh and probably think watching a Law & Order marathon would help.
