How are you getting all these days off?  Are you now part time?  Did you lose your job?

Grumps.  What the heck are you talking about?  I've already explained myself a thousand times and I'm NOT doing it again.  Go back and read!!!!!!!!

Am I not allowed to go to a funeral of my uncle without you questioning my job status?

Grumps, even as a new employee, I am allowed to go to the doctor and I am allowed to go to the funeral for a very close family member.  I've already told you my boss told me not to come in last Friday.  I offered to come in after my appointment.  So, that absence is not on me.  I didn't plan my uncle's death.  They asked me to be a pallbearer, so what am I supposed to do, flip them the bird and not come down?  I asked my boss Sunday evening and he actually gave me all week off to grieve.  I went to work a day and a half and will go tomorrow even when I could miss without trouble.  Do not accuse me of abandoning my job.

I guess you don't care one bit that I just lost someone very close to me.  Your attitude is that I should deny their request and stay home.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. When I was a child, I had an aunt die of lung cancer at the age of 57. It was a shocking thing. Back then, you could still smoke in hospitals, and she smoked until the very end. Crazy how much things have changed. Are you physically going to be able to do the pallbearer job though? You may want to practice walking carrying something that weighs about 50 lbs and see how you do.

Sorry to hear about your aunt.  I'm positive my uncle's cancer was caused by years of smoking.  Thankfully, I will have five other strong guys helping me out.  I'll make sure I'm in the middle so the ends can be held up.  Plus, it's not very far.

Employers don't care.  Get that straight.

I can't speak for his employer, but at my job, we give off for documented funerals.

Jeff, condolences for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.

Your boss offered to give you the entire week off to mourn your uncle? I must say that I find that kind of surprising myself but whatever.

Thanks, Inks.

Eraser, he gave me the entire week if I needed it, but I told him I would come back the day after the funeral which would be Thursday.  I will bring him a remembrance pamphlet so he can document it if he needs.  I worked yesterday, half of today and I'll work Thursday and the second half of Friday, then I'll get back to my regular personal routine Friday evening and then back to my regular work routine on Monday.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words and condolences.  It means a lot to me.  He was my favorite uncle on my dad's side and always had an upbeat spirit right up to the very end.  He never let anything get him down.  He did not lose his battle, as a child of God, he won the fight and is now home in heaven, cancer-free!

I am looking forward to getting back to normal very soon.  A normal that I don't have to worry about my uncle.

How is Papa Bushie holding up? It seems like that poor man can't catch a break.

I know he's sad, but he's staying strong for mom.  He is not a crier.

I know he's sad, but he's staying strong for mom.  He is not a crier.

I never got that idea... what is not strong about crying?

And the work thing, when my cousin died I had 6 days off. Then when my grandmother died I had... 3 I think.

Most of the other times (yikes, just thinking about that) I tend to only have the day of the funeral off. Unless it's inter-state.

Mind you, I live in a country where workers are generally treated with more respect.
