To answer Antonio's post:

Nope, no turnout numbers before the count.

The election night count should be finished by midnight, with preliminary turnout numbers.

Then, tomorrow or in the next days, the ballots for the Swedes abroad will be added and the count will be finalized.

Looks like the Greens lost massively to FI ?

If the exits are correct, my prediction would be quite accurate:

45% Red-Greens-Left
40% Alliance
10% SD
  4% FI

What does this mean ?

A 49% Red-Green-Left-FI minority government against a 50% Alliance-SD opposition ?

Oh Jesus, FI right on threshold... *_*

They might need to wait until the Swede-abroad votes are counted in the next days ... Wink

Where can we see the Novus exit poll ? Which channel is using/broadcasting it ?

Novus was 44% Left, 43% Alliance, 8% SD, 4.4% FI and the rest minor parties.

Currently zero of 5837 precincts reporting.

First numbers should come in ca. 40 minutes IIRC from 2010.

Counting takes ca. 3-4 hours.

Any chance the left and the Sweden Democrats form a coalition? Basically, left-wing policy on everything except for immigration.

Good joke ... Wink

The Greens seem to be quite disappointed, which of course is understandable.

They were polling 10-11% and got 7-8% ...

SD now at 16.9% after 21 polling places reported.

F! at only 1.9%.

That doesn't mean anything yet ...

So, SD did much better than expected and the Feminists didn't get in after all ?

I already had a feeling that the late SD scandals wouldn't hurt them really (I shouldn't have listened to politicus on page 28 of the locked thread ... Tongue)

Also, turnout seems to be 86% when the remaining votes are counted.

I guess votes from the Swedes abroad are now counted ...

Why is it that Stockholm votes so much more to the right than the rest of Sweden while in Denmark Copenhagen is much more leftwing than the rest of Denmark

Are? you? for? real??? Have you seriously forgotten that you've asked this question about 4 times before, and already gotten the same answer from different posters over and over. If you do not suffer from amnesia I have a hard time thinking you can have missed that.

]

Thank you!

I may have posed this question ONCE several years ago if that, I don't why you feel the need to be insulting. If you want sift through the archive of every single thing I have ever posted on this site then please do and show me where I have "asked the exact same question" FOUR times. And BTW there are some topics that merit being rehashed every four or five years (if not more)

Don't worry, he did the same with me when I brought up the ballot-thing again yesterday ... Wink

Maybe Cheese just has an eidetic memory and remembers all the stuff that happened 10 years ago, or even his birth ... Tongue

This thread is getting way too sage for its own good.

What do you expect? Its a Sweden thread without any Swedes to give us some proper analysis (most of them are probably drowning their sorrows, Gustaf might actually be celebrating). Idle speculation, sagery and rhetorical grand standing is bound to fill the void.

Why would I be celebrating?

The "leftists" managing to throw away what looked like a certain victory, likely paving the way for a swift return of the centre-right in a couple of years. For an Alliance supporter this result is as good as it could realistically get.

Anyway, that post was obviously not 100% serious.

So according to val.se, the official results have just finished to be counted a couple minutes ago. Tongue

Turnout is at 85.80% (+1.23), the highest figure since 199
4. The only good thing to come out of this election, I guess.

And 1,21% higher than the Scottish referendum - a testimony to the failure of Scotland's Choice that they couldn't get a higher turnout for their nation's choice of a lifetime than a regular Scandinavian parliamentary election.

The British and Americans could learn a thing or two from the Swedes. Hold an election, get a result that's 99,9% accurate in 4 hours and then finish the "fine counting" in 4,5 days. That's the way to do it.

I have another suggestion:
