Oh my God, 40% in and SD still at 13.7%. Pretty terrifying.

Don't worry. They're still counting rural sh**tholes as we speak. Decent urban precincts are going to get in later. And FI is already at 3.0 which is good news.

Stockolm County is at 48% and Västra Götaland at 63%...

Also, I guess FI has no chance to qualify at this point...

I don't think Sweden has ever had a "mid-term election"

They had one in 1958.

Great job, Swedes! Welcome to the same nightmarish hell that other European countries have been living through for a while. Apparently you're no better than them.

Being a little overdramatic here, aren't we? Smiley It's still going to be a minority for the left.

Yeah, with a bunch of xenophobic bastards holding the balance of power. Surely this is gonna be a wonderful left-wing government.

It was neither a surprising result or a big surprise that SD got more votes than the polls showed.

Is that supposed to make things better? It's not working.

Looks like Stefan Loefven told Left party that he does not want to include Left Party in new government.  Not sure what Loefven is up to.  Is he hoping to rope in all if C-FP into his government?  Did not C already rule this out? It this does not work out are we not looking at at a budget talks failure in a few months?

Having a government that functions.

S+MP was alwas the most likely centre-left option. Including Left would make it harder to make a budget deal across the aisle.

I understand that, but having a government that only represents 36-37% of voters (less than what an Alliance government would represent) is a pretty unfortunate situation.

And leading electoral coalition, same warnings about provisional results etc.

I think a doctor should look at that...

I see what you did there. Tongue

So according to val.se, the official results have just finished to be counted a couple minutes ago. Tongue

S: 31.01%
MP: 6.89%
V: 5.72%
Total Left Bloc: 43.62% (-0.01) - now that's just pathetic.

M: 23.33%
C: 6.11%
FP: 5.42%
KD: 4.57%
Total Alliance: 39.43% (-9.84)

SD: 12.86% (+7.12)

FI: 3.12% (+2.72)

Others: 0.97%

Turnout is at 85.80% (+1.23), the highest figure since 1994. The only good thing to come out of this election, I guess.

They were very beautiful charts, though I'm slightly unsure over your decisson to use the same line for both New Democracy and SD.

Yeah, that was unfortunate (even moreso as it includes the nazis of the 1930s as well as modern neonazis), but the chart is already quite a mess without having to add more colors. Tongue

I was thinking about comments on the patterns though. Wink Like the left barely reaching its 2006 levels even when FI is counted among them, or the increasing marginalization of non-M Alliance parties, or the fact that SD's rise seems to be linked with increased turnout.

Rough translation of what Hans Linde, Left Party group leader and whip, said in the debate preceding the vote:

Sounds like something you'd say, does it not Antonio? ^^
It's not hard to read some heavy criticism of the new administration in between the lines.

Indeed, that was my point. V's lack of support is a major warning sign that this government is gonna be right-wing.
