I'll mention some things occasionally in Update II - Less Boring, More Whoring, but I'm not going to attention whore to the level of Bushie. What you've missed is that the market you seek to tap consists of people who also have more of a life than those who currently participate in the Update and thus while they would be more likely to appreciate such an Update, they'd also be less likely to participate.  Let's face it, the current Update would not now be in its seventeenth season without the audience participation factor.  I just don't see how that can be replicated with a less dysfunctional main character.
