Let's assume that the presidential candidates of either party are respectable politicians that haven't made any gaffes. They have hold their first, undecided TV debate, and now it's their running mates' turn.

If Senator Elizabeth Warren and Condoleezza Rice are the VP nominates, who would win that sophisticated debate?

Sounds like there wouldn't be too much disagreement on foreign policy, unfortunately.

Mmm, indeed. Still, Warren would throttle Condi.

It would be a classic, but a draw, IMO.

It would be boring. Warren's only interesting when pitted up against a real defensive corporate fatcat.

Warren came off as pretty folksy in her debates with Brown IIRC. Rice usually has a fairly cold demeanor.

Both Warren and Rice are very intelligent and would do pretty well in a vice-presidential debate; I suspect something close to a tie would be the most likely result, though Warren has a chance at winning due to her populist attitudes that might play well with debate viewers at home.

Warren would win. Obviously I disagree with Warren on just about every issue, and I believe that she is a genuinely nasty person in general, but that doesn't mean she isn't a great debater, and she certainly is very pervasive. Rice, however, only got to where she is now because the Neo-cons needed muh Great Black Hope in the Bush administration, and most likely wouldn't fare well against a professional like Warren in a debate.

Warren would win,...as for Rice, she wasn't all that impressive as Secretary of State at all, seemed more like a wagging tail for "cowboy" diplomacy (Neocon stupidity at the worst) rather than really trying to get the job done right.

Without neo-con ideology in the foreground and actual debating skill being necessary,Rice is good as sunk.

A tie is certainly possible. You have two people who are experts in different fields, and the optics are largely a wash in a debate between two women in their sixties. Both have demonstrated an ability to stay on message for their party.

Is it conceivable to you that a black person could be an actual professional and expert in a field?
