While police stations are buying the military's unused wares?  Hah!  Not a chance.  Even if the government weren't making money off militarizing the police, there are far too many very, very bad people in Congress who are more than happy to see the masses paralyzed with fear.

The same Congress that just added $20 billion to military spending that the Pentagon didn't want? Not a chance this passes.

The actual military is stretched too thin, so it's not really a surprise that police departments have become more like the military, especially since 9/11 and the paranoia about threats to security-whether they be foreign or domestic- that has followed.

They've gotta make a killing protect the homeland to secure our freedom, or whatever.
