Starting tomorrow, I'm announcing that I will be taking a small hiatus from the forum. Discussing the same things every day, being told you're wrong, being personally insulted (KC I'm looking at you), the constant Hillary wank, and having the Democrats being overconfident and arrogant is getting really old, and doing it for another month and a half with the most small of changes in the numbers and discussion content will just be the definition of insanity.

I'll return before December, but that is a pessimistic estimate. The most accurate prediction is that it will be either on or the day after Halloween. But it could be earlier. I just need a break from the discussion, and will return when I have cooled down enough.

I will also be sending PMs still for more personal analysis of races when I feel like it. Otherwise, I will stick to making my own interpretations and keeping them to myself instead of having them insulted due to someone else's own bias getting the better of them.

Til then, see ya later.

That's what I had to do, too.  I got tired of it too.  My solution is just to just post my thoughts and leave it at that.  Ignore what the others say and focus mostly on maps and the like.

Translation re. hackery: I'm upset that the Democrats on this forum have been calling control of the Senate a toss-up for the past three months, instead of supporting my erroneous view that it will be a Republican lock.

This place is awful around election season. Just awful. It's a haven for Dem hacks all the time and they'll constantly make it seem like they're in the minority here but it gets amplified from September to November. You really just have to pray for them. They desperately need it!

You just have to roll with it though. The good news is that Lief's routine, for example, is indicative of how the election won't end: in 2012, he was a super pessimist and the Dems have a good year. Luckily, he's super cocky now.

Interesting theory Phil, we'll see how it plays out. Though iirc I was only pessimistic for the week after the first debate, before Fighting Joe Biden humiliated Paul Ryan on live national television and saved Obama's campaign.

Hackery is not a partisan sport... it's a game anyone can (and does) play.

I don't doubt that at all. But around here, it's irrefutable that the Dems are far bigger hacks and undoubtedly more numerous.

I almost made a statement saying that you should be able to handle this place better, but then I remembered that I've left this forum about five times in the past year for the same reason.

This forum may have more than its fair share of Democratic Party hacks, but if you kept in mind that this forum is a lot younger than the American electorate, it doesn't seem so surprising...

For example, (wannabe) socialists and Libertarians outnumber social conservatives here. I mean, come on. lol

Is that really that uncommon on online political forums? Obviously online political discussion boards in general are younger than the American electorate, but I doubt Atlas is particularly exceptional in that regard.

Depends on the forum. Lots of olds (retirees, etc.)  use discussion forums now. They've upgraded from forwarding chain emails, etc. Tongue

How exactly would that prayer go? "Dear Lord, please stop the Democrats on the Atlas Forum dot org from being such hacks. I mean, I just saw one today say that Kay Hagan was a lock to win re-election in North Carolina! How despicable can you get?! I'm trying to turn the other cheek, but I need your help to combat this partisan hackery. In Jesus' name I pray, amen."

Anyway FreedomHawk, enjoy your break. Hopefully you come back earlier than Halloween.

Take the time you need to put yourself together in real life first. Nothing on the internet is ever worth losing it over. There is more to life than politics, not matter what the Atlas Forum might say. Don't let them get you down!

Real post: it baffles me that so many people get upset over posts on an anonymous Internet forum. If it starts to bother you, walk away.

The posts might be anonymous but they're (generally) written by real people and directed at real people, so why should they be treated differently than conversation in other locales?

Agree 100%. Especially because many of use spend a lot of time on here, such posts can get personal and upsetting.

No, no. More along the lines of asking for Him have mercy on the pitifully hackish folks and asking for God to help those individuals overcome their problems. We just want to help. That's all.
