This is a bit old, but we haven't discussed it yet, so here we go. British researcher Simon Anholt has constructed a Good Country Index which shows that no other country does more good to the world than.. Ireland.
Nine out of the top ten countries are in Western Europe. Libya, Iraq and Vietnam are at the bottom.
His idea is "to measure what each country on earth contributes to the common good of humanity, and what it takes away."
Based on a wide range of data from international organisations he gives each country a balance-sheet to show whether it's a net creditor or net debtor to mankind.
Thoughts? There is definitely a resource distribution question here. Rich countries also use far more than their fair share of resources. On the other hand you have to have resources to contribute.
