I don't think the yes side will prevail.  But I'm not sure if it'll be more of a Quebec 1980-type result or Quebec 1995-type result?

There hasn't really been anything indicating a 1980 type result. Yes must have a pretty high floor.

Monkey Shoulder.  Never tried it before but it was on sale for $29.99, five dollars off the normal price.  I usually opt for neat, but today I started with a cube of ice (on Grumps' suggestion).  I'll have the next one neat, as is my custom.

It's not a single malt, but it's surprisingly rich and malty.  On the nose is a hint of marmalade and cocoa.  And do I detect a note of nutmeg?  Or is it cloves?  Maybe even a smidgeon of licorice.  On the palate it's rich, malty, even velvety.  Self-confident, yet well trained, as it offers a finish of moderate length, not at all bitter or metallic, but rather more like vanilla and a hint of something a bit like citrus.  This will work perfectly.

Aye or nae, to me it matters not, but let's all drink to the stalwart Scot.

Sláinte!

Live feeds are available here:

http://www.bbc.com/news/events/scotland-decides/live

You have to click on "live coverage" at the lower right of the image, and then you get to pick between BBC One and BBC One Scotland.

Edit: On the other hand, in the five minutes since I posted that, the BBC discussion has featured all four of: fishing, agriculture, whisky, and Macbeth, so maybe you don't want the link at this early stage.

Scattered reports of what the postal votes look like are coming through from parts of central Scotland. No idea about the accuracy, but the rumours are No-ish. Take with as much salt as is consumed in the average bowl of porage.

That's what I've read as well.  The Daily Record cites Yes supporters saying that those are mostly Tory voters.  I'm not sure about that, though.

Postal votes should mostly be two things:

1) Votes from older voters, like in every other election - older voters are overwhelmingly against Independence (unlike 16-30 group which is said to be pro)
2) People who have been sure of their position all along, in other words a vast majority of no voters, as no has been leading all along and since no is considered the safe option

Together, this might indicate that there might be a slight yes majority on election day. Though it obviously doesn't have to be so since more than 80% of voters waited until election day to vote.

Well, to be fair, there's probably only about 32 Tory voters.

First major indicator: Turnout on the Orkney Islands has been declared: 83.7%

Result from North Lanarkshire might arrive as soon as 12:45 reports are saying.

"Official figures from Clackmannanshire put the turnout at 89%."

"Martyn Mclaughlin of the Scotsman tweets: Some 90% of postal votes returned in Edinburgh."

"East Dunbartonshire is declaring that 97% of postal votes have been returned." Shocked

Surprised by 97%, not surprised by 84%. Tongue

Btw, the turnout in the 1995 Quebec vote was 93.5%. Doubt it'll be that high in Scotland. Tongue

I await the allegations of MI5 involvement shortly...

This is exciting. It must be strange for our Scottish members that half the forum is more emotionally invested in the outcome than they are, though.
That's because most of us come from places that have no logical reason for secession what so ever Tongue. It is very exciting from an international perspective, and most Americans like Scotland, be it because of Braveheart or their own ancestry.

Weird how we all still seem to hate Quebec though.

If you've talked with a Quebecker, it wouldn't seem so weird.

Extremely high turnout is potentially good news for "Yes" I would think?

Could very well be, did Salmond state why he wouldn't be there?
