What would change in the politics? How would the foreign policy be different? How about domestic policies?

Scotland is like Vermont politically, whereas the greater UK is perhaps Washington, Minnesota, California, New York or something. UK is generally liberal - even the Conservative party is more or less in line with US Democrats while the Scots politically feel much more Scandinavian than British. Tongue

Scotland is Vermont?

I was thinking more like West Virginia or Western Pennsylvania.

What? Tongue

Only Glasgow is truely working class I think, and as far as I understand, pretty progressive working class as well.

Del tachis post is obviously bad, but you all seem to be singling him out when a Norwegian made the first just as dumb comparison in this thread.

It makes me feel so uneasy the amount of things wrong with this statement.

If you think Cameron and the generic Republican have anything in common, then please arrest me. Smiley

I'm not even sure if Cameron is generally to the left or right of the generic Democrat, though he's probably slightly to the right. (Though Fredrik Reinfelt of Sweden is almost certainly to the left. Tongue)

In Norway, every single major party supports the US Democrats, except for the very ultra hyper previously super racist far right party now in government - Progress Party, where it's about 50-50. Though Progress Party might be more like 60-40 due to its heavy focus not only on hating immigrants, but also hating taxes and regulations in general.

Twenty years ago it would actually be the other way round. Now Scotland is mostly Liberal in the US sense.

It's a reference to a now-infamous post from outofbox6, who claimed that "Western Ukraine is more fiscally conservative while Eastern Ukraine is more socially conservative"

It was very funny in the Ukraine context, I just think the whole Atlas meme-culture is a bit annoying.

That you think that is terrible news for Ed Milliband.

Atlas memes are the best (normal) and anyone who disagrees is a HP who must be guillotined. There is no Moderate Hero option on this issue. I will now accept my accolades.
