Well,
This is an obligation for the Senate to elect a PPT.

You have indeed the right to elect a Speaker or whatever, but the election of a PPT must figure in the senate rules too.

I've had a look over the bill, and I agree that it's ready for a final vote.

Great work from nix, yankee, tnf and everyone else Smiley

We can just vote on a PPT when we elect a Speaker. It's already in the Constitution, so I don't think it's a big deal.

Anyway, I think enough time expired after TNF and I called for a final vote that we need to have one.

But that won't be a little strange to vote for both a speaker and a PPT???

What the hell is the PPT going to be tasked with then if he isn't mentioned in the rules?

Does it seem kind of wasteful to elect an officer who is tasked with absolutely nothing, Captain Obvious Nix? Tongue

You wrote this rule package though, insisted on a speaker position. You want to abolish the GM "because it does nothing" and yet you are creating a new office in the Senate but because the medium is incapable of changing the old one, it will remain as a powerless entity.

I don't believe anything is being held up. I have not ran this chamber since July so it isn't like by asking the question something is being delayed. Tongue

Is the PPT going to open a final vote on this, or keep ignoring it?

No idea, but I will ask SJoyce to open the vote tomorrow if it's not opened today.

Nay
I respect Averroes Nix's job and I thank him for having improved the rules.
But, I simply disagree with the new VP roles. I believe the VP should have a role in the senate and these senate rules just strip him all of his duties.
I believe we risk to have an another concern in the next month: the VP's role. If an office has no function, this office risks to die.

I knew we had neglected something.

Windjammer, would you be interested in working with me on an amendment to reinsert VP responsbilities so as to avoid your likely correct prediction of its eventual demise otherwise?
