The 1912 Democratic National Convention was deadlocked for a long time. Let's say Wilson is not able to receive a majority. So the delegates turn to three-time nominee William Jennings Bryan, who was still an influential person within the party. He once more accepts the nomination. Wilson is choosen as as his running-mate.

Might Bryan win this election with the GOP devided between TR and Taft? Or manages TR to win? Discuss with maps please.

I am not sure who wins this one. Taft and Teddy both might receive more votes, though I am not sure if the same voters who voted for Teddy would be drawn in by Bryan. Debs might lose some moderates to Bryan, on the other hand.

I see Bryan doing worse than Wilson in the Northeast and Upper Midwest, but maybe a little better in the interior West (i.e. in this case roughly between the Sierra Nevada and the Missouri River) taking some votes there from TR and Debs.  Even bleeding some support from conservative Democrats to Taft and Northern progressive Democrats to TR, Bryan still manages a decisive win with the Republican split.

Bryan/Wilson  39%  345
Roosevelt/Johnson  31%  162
Taft/Butler  25%  24
Debs/Seidel  4%
