I've been thinking about this since the other day when he announced he wouldn't run for Governor in IN again. The Clintons like him, he'd be seen as a safe choice from the Midwest who wont do harm, and was a contender for the job in Gore's, Kerry's, and Obama's campaigns. Plus, he doesn't strike me as someone who would mind too much about being overshadowed by Bill.  Granted he will have been out of office for a few years, but that didn't stop Kemp and Chenney from being picked.

Hopefully not, we need Bayh to take out lobbyist Dan Coats instead.

Absolutely. I've been saying this for months. Bayh is the safest choice Hillary can pick in 2016. Safe, won't overshadow the Clintons, on message, presidential-looking, and could help in the Midwest states like Ohio, Michigan, and maybe Indiana and Missouri. A Clinton-Bayh ticket may be too DLC for the base though, but it may be a winning ticket too.

He may very well have been chosen in 2008, should Hilllary have won the Democratic primary.

Since he decided to vote to the right of some GOP Senators after being turned down for the VP spot, screwed the Indiana Democratic Party in 2010 by announcing his retirement the day signatures were due, wrote a blistering op-ed in the NY Times, joined Fox News as the token Democrat, and decided to make a sh!tload of money as a lobbyist (instead of affecting policy otherwise, like he said he would), I'm guessing his chances of being tapped as VP are slightly smaller now.

And replace him with lobbyist Evan Bayh!

Is he soothing enough though?

In all seriousness though, he wouldn't be a bad choice.  But I think one of the senators from VA is more likely.

He's not that bad, but there are better choices.

Pros...
Experienced as a Governor turned Senator.
Media-savvy enough to avoid major gaffes.

Cons...
Emphasizes several of Hillary's negatives (Business ties, Age.)
Has been out of office since 2010. So he's not a guy who can help Hillary govern that effectively.

A Clinton/Bayh ticket was what I really thought was going to happen in 2008.

He seems like one of twenty or so current/ former officeholders with a shot at the position. I'm not sure he's really a dark horse.

Clinton needs a fresh face to generate buzz and enthusiasm. As much as I would love to see Bayh as Vice President, he would likely dampen Democratic enthusiasm.

Sure, if she wants me to write in "Barack Obama" instead of vote for her.

Tbh they are too similar to each other. Plus, we need Bayh in Indiana to give Dems a shot. Look elsewhere, preferably left.
