Horrible person. He means well but is a naive utopian who has no understanding of how the real world works.

I love the idea that Bernie is a radical leftist. Do the Democratic hacks on this forum even understand dialectical materialism?

7. The reference is to a piece of propaganda distributed by the University at Wisconsin-Madison Youth Communist League, which reads in relevant part: “…we believe dialectical materialism is a solution to all problems.”  Taken from Irving Howe, Socialism and America.  Harcourt Brace Jovanovich.  San Diego, 1985.

anyway, I'm as disgusted by Sanders' comments on Israel-Palestine and ISIS as the next guy, but if we are going to bother to go vote once every few years in between our molotov-cocktail throwing parties, he'll be about the best we will do among those with a "chance to win".  there's no point in blasting him.

True Leftists are f[inks]ing insane. I rate them about on the level of teabaggers, and I'm glad that our fine president, with the backing of such FFs as Bernie Sanders, has dedicated his eight years in office to fighting both groups.

Actually, True Leftists would be a lot more useful if they were like teabaggers. Teabaggers succeed by working within the Republican Party and pushing them to the far right, both in terms of actual primaries and based on incumbents' fear of being primaried. On the other hand, True Leftists outright refuse to associate with the Democratic Party in any way, shape, or form, which only marginalizes them. This is a big part of the reason why the Tea Party was (relatively) successful while Occupy Wall Street was a complete dud. The former channeled their energy into realistic political action, the latter just died out without accomplishing a damn thing because of their opposition to working within the established political structure. In addition, continuing with the True Leftist fascination with counterproductivity and cutting off their nose to spite their face, obviously the Democrats aren't going to try to appeal to voters who are just going to write in a dead person the second they deviate from their rigid ideology on anything. Contrast with the Tea Party, which will always vote both in Republican primaries and straight ticket Republican in the general election. Obviously politicians will want to appeal to that group.

Working within the Democratic party would be a good idea if it weren't a complete end. A left-liberal capitalist party is inherently opposed to our goals. I assume you're new to Marxist thought, so use this as a nice starting point for what I've been talking about today.

FF. I'm not a pacifist, despite being green. Sometimes air strikes and the like are entirely necessary against reactionary movements that threaten to destabilise entire regions. ISIS, in particular, has made direct executions of American civilians, which is tantamount to war. Of course, civilian casualties should be kept to a bare minimum - there's a tiresome trend of vaguely utilitarian "carpet-bomb everywhere to kill ISIS!!!"

If the US used this opportunity to reform the alliance with Iran that'd be great as well.

Only in Vermont would someone as looney as Bernie Sanders become a Senator.

I hate his politics, but he is pretty funny.

Just another run-of-the-mill imperialist masquerading as a radical. Sanders fits well in the American 'socialist' tradition that includes the sell-outs who voted for and supported World War I and the Vietnam War.

Calm down there, Eugene Debs.

Voted HP for his ridiculous views, but he's definitely not an HP as a *person* clearly.
Same opinion as mine.

This forum determines the nominee? If so, Donald Trump should personally thank this forum.

No. Nationwide, Hillary had more supporters then sanders, and thus more votes, in the primary.

Bernie = the Barry Goldwater/William Jennings Bryan of the Democratic Party. I suspect in ten years we see him a highly influential figure in the Democratic Washington and the White House.
