I really respect both of them, but I am closer to Ron Paul for obvious reasons.

This post is classic Atlas comedic gold.

Paul (not a socialist).

Why? The policies of Ron Paul are far more extreme than anything Sanders have suggested - also in a US context.

Stuff like abolishing the Fed and reverting to gold standard, legalizing all drugs, abolishing Medicaid & Medicare, abolishing antitrust legislation and the EPA, climate change denial, being against the Civil Rights Act. All extreme positions by world standards.
Many of the things he wants to abolish are very central to modern American society and ditching them would be quite radical.
Whether you are pro or con his views, I don't see how you can deny Ron Paul is far more radical than a Social Democrat like Sanders whose policies would just be slightly to the left of the usual liberal Democrat.

Regarding voting record in Congress see this one:

I'm pretty sure Paul is more "extremist" than Sanders is.

How? Just because Sanders voted for war with ISIS doesn't make him a moderate hero anymore than voting against ISIS would have made him an even bigger True Leftist icon.

See the post above mine. Sanders's voting record and statements about his ideological leanings is basically identical to that of a very liberal Democrat. He doesn't support massacring the bourgeoisie, starting a proletariat revolution, or having the state completely control the means of production. On the other hand, Paul's record is certainly more "radical" and "extremist", for better or for worse.

Sanders. He's basically your run-of-the-mill social democrat by European standards. Put him in the parliament of any Western country other than the US and he wouldn't raise an eyebrow.

Ron Paul, on the other hand, delves into kookiness that is bizarre by the standards of both liberals and conservatives. And his ideology has a tendency to attract some very nasty people whose notions of race and global institutions are often bigotry masquerading as skepticism.

Paul extols my least favourite political virtue, that of "consistency". That's what his supporters use to defend him - "say what you like about Dr Paul, at least he's consistent". In practise "consistency" is a euphemism for closed-mindedness.

Sanders is pretty good, but ultimately a generic socdem, only notable for his "independence" (cough, cough) and mislabeling himself as a socialist.

What would his ideology be? Paleolibertarianism?
