I would say a combination of 1 and 3. It is an Atlas after all, which implies the proliferation of maps. It is also a forum, so I imagine discussion of those maps for results and demographics is also part of its purpose. Option 2 is the one that clearly isn't its main purpose. Also it's main purpose is decidedly not the Update Thread.
